Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum Specialty Experience: 1 year
  • Prior travel experience: Not required (1st timers accepted)

Patient Population

  • Adults to Geriatrics

Unit & Work Setting

  • Specialty: Renal Med Surg
  • Ratio/Census: 1:5-6; 49 rooms with average daily census of 48
  • Unit Systems: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
  • Scrub Color: Navy Blue
  • Floating: Yes
  • Call Requirements: None
  • Weekends: Every other weekend
  • Holidays: Expected to work major holidays during assignment (details provided)
  • Return to Orientation (RTO): Maximum 7 days

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on specialty area
  • Other certifications (PALS, NRP, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification) may be required based on unit specialty (refer to clinical track guidelines)

Compliance & Orientation

  • Full compliance required to start on time; delays in compliance may push start date by 2 weeks due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Number of Non-Billable Orientation (NBO) hours depends on contract length (e.g., 12 weeks = 12 hours)

Background & Documentation Requirements

  • Background check required within 30 days of start, including education verification
  • State license verification within 30 days prior to start (must be licensed in Georgia)
  • Annual NURSYS verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; cannot start with results pending
  • Physical exam: Required by agency within 1 year of start
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
    • TB questionnaire updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B series or signed declination
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (strongly encouraged during flu season)

Competency Exams

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required by agency)
  • Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for certain specialties such as Telemetry, ICU, ER)

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must review and sign facility-specific policies such as Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start
  • References: 2 clinical references required by agency
  • Skills checklist and work history verification required, can be pending at start with proof of processing

This position is suitable for Registered Nurses with at least 1 year of experience in Renal Med Surg, who are comfortable working with adult to geriatric patients in a hospital setting using Epic and other unit systems. Prior travel experience is not required, making it accessible for first-time travel nurses.
