Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (L&D/OB)
Location: Oxford, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position: Labor & Delivery / Obstetrics Registered Nurse
- Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current RN licensure in North Carolina required
- 2 years of nursing experience preferred (highest requirement)
- Prior travel experience preferred (not required)
- EMR system: MEDITECH (experience not required)
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – Required prior to start and must be current
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – Required for all candidates
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) – Required for L&D
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – Required for all L&D; AWHONN certification required (intermediate or advanced, updated every 2 years)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – Preferred, required for ER, ICU, OR (not specifically required for L&D)
- STABLE – Preferred for L&D
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Proof of I9 or Attestation
- Government issued photo ID (must be carried during hours of service)
- Proof of E-Verify or Attestation
- Residency Declaration Form (if working on a compact license)
- Background Check: 7-year criminal check within a year of start, updated annually, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for every contract renewal/extension
- Education Verification (diploma acceptable if education cannot be verified)
- State License Verification (Primary Source Verification)
- NURSYS Verification (required for all RNs)
- Competency Exams including Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
- Signed Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (HIPAA compliance)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Initial physical exam, updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years of start (declination acceptable)
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 4 weeks of start
- Immunity or vaccination or declination for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- 9-panel Drug Screen within last 12 months (instant acceptable)
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or facility-specific medical/religious exemption required during flu season (09/18 - 03/31)
Additional Requirements
- Proof of 2 clinical references (hospital evaluations accepted)
- Complete employment application/resume
- Skills checklist for applicable unit, updated annually
- Performance evaluations if previously worked with the system over 1 year
- Internal evaluations if previously worked with the system over 2 years
This position is ideal for RNs with L&D/OB experience seeking a travel contract in North Carolina. Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory. Compliance with all certifications, background checks, and health requirements is mandatory.
