Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Springfield, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse - Cath Lab
  • Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (06:30 AM - 07:00 PM)
  • Unit: 5 room Cath Lab, average daily census 25
  • Weekend Requirement: 2-3 weekends per contract
  • On-Call: Required as needed
  • Floating: May float within scope to meet facility needs
  • Schedule Flexibility: Block schedule requests can be discussed with manager
  • License: Must have active Illinois RN license in hand to apply
  • Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days onsite per week

Experience & Certifications

  • Required Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year in specialty (Cath Lab)
  • First-Timers: Accepted
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
  • Certifications Required:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Additional Required Skills & Experience:
    • Interventional Cardiac Cath Lab experience
    • Cardiac Cath Lab Procedures:
      • Circulate Procedures
      • Diagnostic Catheterizations (Adult)
      • Left heart catheterization
      • Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring
      • Right heart catheterization
    • Medication Experience: Procedural Sedation Administration and Monitoring
    • Professional Skills: Interpretation and Management of Dysrhythmias, Monitoring Procedural Sedation
    • Cerner electronic health record experience required

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Valid/current US Driver’s License or State ID
  • Background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks within 30 days prior to start
  • Illinois-specific searches including Department of Corrections, Most Wanted, and State Police registries within 30 days prior to start
  • Education verification (degree/transcript/diploma)
  • Primary source verification of certifications and state license (NURSYS verification required)
  • Competency exam required for clinical candidates
  • Badge photo (color, mid-shoulders up, plain background) due within 1 week of signing
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including labs within 7 days of contract signing
  • Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • TB questionnaire updated annually
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity/declination for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
  • References: 2 professional references required for clinical candidates
  • Skills checklist required for clinical candidates

Notes

  • Candidates must be prepared for on-call shifts and weekend work.
  • Floating may be required within the scope of practice.
  • Scheduling flexibility is available but must be coordinated with management.
  • All clinical documentation and compliance must be completed timely to meet start date requirements.

This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with Cath Lab experience seeking a travel contract in a Level I trauma, Magnet-recognized acute care hospital in Illinois.
