Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Seattle, Washington
Position Overview
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Specialty: Registered Nurse
- Float required to Postpartum unit
- Work Setting: High Risk Antepartum (6 weeks to 41 weeks gestation)
- Patient Population: High risk antepartum patients including PTL, previa, preeclampsia, diabetes, hypertension, PROM, twins, substance use disorder in pregnancy, fetal demise or loss, postpartum mothers with babies in NICU (no newborns on unit)
- Labor and Delivery Management: Circulate for C-section
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
- Candidates with less than 2 years or no experience with C-sections require manager approval
- Intermediate AWHONN experience required for screening
- First time travelers are accepted
- Prior travel experience: Not required
Certifications Required
- AWHONN Advanced
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred but not required
Skills and Procedures
- Assist with sterile speculum exams (effacement, dilation, station, presentation)
- Maintain central lines (CVC/PICC)
- Manage IV therapy including anticoagulants, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate therapy
- Support amnio or sterile spec exam at bedside
- Use of PCA pumps, syringe pumps
- Medication administration including heparin, insulin, magnesium sulfate
Scrub Requirements
- Any color scrubs allowed
- Scrubs provided when floated to Labor & Delivery units
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- 10 panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- TDAP (within 10 years or declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Flu vaccine during flu season or declination
- COVID vaccine or declination
- Fit mask test required for travel candidates (updated annually)
- Respirator safety clearance required for travel candidates (updated annually)
Background and Verification
- Background check within 45 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Education verification required for nursing degree
- NURSYS license verification required for all RNs
- State-specific searches and registry checks as applicable (Washington state requirements apply)
- Employment application covering last 5 years (7 years for APN/Subcontractors)
- Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment in comparable specialty/setting (6 months for CNAs)
Additional Requirements
- Float policy acknowledgment required (may be required to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance)
- Completion of Providence WorkRamp modules as assigned (specialty and facility specific) prior to start
- Epic training modules may be required depending on region and facility
- Photo for badge not required for this facility
Summary
This is a travel Registered Nurse position in Seattle, WA, focused on high-risk antepartum care with float duties to postpartum and labor & delivery units. Candidates must have at least 2 years of nursing experience, required certifications including AWHONN, BLS, and NRP, and be prepared to manage complex antepartum patients and procedures. Compliance with Providence Health and Services documentation, background checks, and training modules is mandatory. Prior travel experience is not required, and first-time travelers are welcome.
