Position Details

Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- Additional preferred or required certifications depending on unit:
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Required for all ER RNs
- CCRN (Critical Care RN)
- NIH Stroke Certification (required for certain units including ED, ICU, Neuro ICU, Cath Lab)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
- Other certifications may be required based on unit assignment
Competency Exams Required
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (80% minimum in dosage calculations)
- Color Blind Testing (online)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (80% pass required; max 2 attempts) - required for ICU, MS/Tele, ED, Cath Lab, Radiology/Angio, Interventional Radiology, Stepdown Neuro, PACU, Acute Care Float Pool
- Conscious Sedation Competency Exam (if working in GI Lab/Endoscopy or Ambulatory Care)
- General Competency Exam
Background Checks & Verifications
- 7-year criminal background check including nationwide, sex offender, FACIS Level 1, WATCH (WA Access to Criminal History)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Education verification (if applicable)
- Sex Offender Search (NSOPW)
- State-specific background checks (Washington WATCH Search)
- Primary source verification of state license required
- Drug screening (9 panel) within past 12 months required by agency (not required by facility)
Licensure & Documentation
- Washington State RN license required (pending licenses not accepted)
- Temporary licenses require timely fingerprinting and follow-up to avoid license closure
- Multi-state licensed nurses working in WA must complete suicide prevention training and demographic attestation
- Badge photo required (professional quality, waist up, no hats or face coverings)
- Facility-specific job description and policy acknowledgments must be signed
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year (agency requirement; not required by facility)
- Mask fit test within 12 months (3M 1860R, 1860S, or 1870+ masks)
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination on file
- Negative TB test (QFT Gold, T-Spot, or 2-step PPD within 90 days) or chest X-ray if positive TB history
- Annual TB questionnaire required
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: titer or 2 vaccines required; declination allowed with acknowledgment of furlough risk
- Hepatitis B: positive titer or declination; vaccine series and re-titer required if non-immune
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (09/29 - 03/31)
- COVID vaccination or declination required for tracking purposes
- Meningococcal vaccine required for Microbiology lab techs (not applicable here)
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references required
- Orientation modules and testing required prior to start (approx. 2-3 hours)
- Onsite orientation testing includes basic knowledge and medication tests
- Annual stroke education modules required for RNs in specified units
- Various facility-specific forms and acknowledgments must be completed and signed prior to or at orientation
Summary
This is a 13-week travel contract for a Registered Nurse with at least 2 years of ED or ICU experience, working dual roles in Interventional Radiology and Cath Lab at a Level I Trauma Magnet teaching hospital in Seattle, WA. The position requires on-call availability, weekend work, and floating between units. Certifications in BLS and ACLS are mandatory, with additional competency exams and certifications required depending on unit assignment.
