Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Kalamazoo, Michigan
Unit: Cardiovascular Unit - Telemetry (54-bed cardiac unit)

Job Details

• Shift: 3x12 hour days (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
• Call Requirements: None
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirements: Must work 2 out of 3 holidays
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Block Scheduling: Not guaranteed but managers will try to accommodate
• Start Date: ASAP
• Contract Length: 13 weeks

Experience & Requirements

• Specialty: Registered Nurse - Cardiovascular Telemetry
• Years of Experience Required: 1 year
• First-time Travelers: Accepted
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required
• Locals Accepted: No, must live at least 50 miles away from the facility

Patient Population & Unit Info

• Cardiac telemetry patients monitored remotely and on the unit
• Patient conditions include heart failure, STEMI/NSTEMI heart attacks, stroke (requiring cardiac monitoring), cardiac arrhythmias, chest pain
• Cardiac drips administered
• May take overflow medical patients if needed

Certifications Required

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
• NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale Certification) - Required for all RNs, must be completed through BlueCloud

Documentation & Compliance Requirements

• Background check covering last 7 years and all states lived/worked in, required within 90 days of start
• Education verification or copy of diploma/transcripts
• Physical exam
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray (Qgold accepted, T-Spots not accepted)
• TB questionnaire prior to start and annually thereafter
• Immunizations or titers for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
  • Varicella
• Negative 12-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, cannabinoids, MDMA, methamphetamines, buprenorphine, oxycodone, fentanyl, cocaine, methadone, tramadol, benzodiazepines, morphine/opiate)
• Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required prior to start and documentation on file by December 15 (flu season October–May)
• COVID vaccine exemption process available for medical or religious reasons

Additional Notes

• Scrub color: Caribbean Blue
• Charting system: Cerner Powerchart
• On-site EKG exam required for Monitor Techs (not RN-specific)
• Facility requires completion of multiple modules (~8-10 hours) prior to start; paid time for completion provided
• Confidentiality and non-disclosure agreement required prior to start
• Passport-style photo required for badge issuance
