Job Details

• Shift: Night Shift, 3 twelve-hour shifts per week (3/12's)
• Schedule: Every other weekend and every other holiday
• Unit Info:

  • Acute care interventional telemetry medical surgical unit
  • Nurse to patient ratio: 1:5-6
  • 30 private/semi-private beds
  • Patient acuity: moderate to high
  • Post-op checks
  • No ventilated patients
  • Common medications/drips: Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Insulin, Ketamine
  • Patients may have PCA pumps, epidurals, Foley catheters, drains
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • EMR system: EPIC

Experience & Requirements

• Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year in Med/Surg Telemetry or related area
• Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
• Skills:

  • Must be able to read and interpret telemetry independently
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
  • ACLS not specifically required for this unit (refer to unit description)

Licensure & Documentation

• Valid Registered Nurse license for Ohio required
• NURSYS verification required
• Background check: 7-year history including SS trace, county searches, nationwide criminal search, sex offender search, and sanctions screening
• Drug screening: Negative 9 or 10 panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start
• Physical exam: Must be completed within 2 years, indicating clearance to work without restrictions
• Immunizations and health requirements:

  • TB test (2 PPDs, QGold, TSpot, or MTB) within 6 months
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunity or vaccination
  • Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination
  • Flu vaccine or approved exemption required by season
• Respirator fit test documentation within 1 year (if applicable)

Competency Requirements

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam within 2 years
• Unit-specific competency exam within 2 years (includes EKG exam for Med/Surg)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam within 2 years (required for Med/Surg RNs)
• Color blind testing: 100% pass required on online test or in-person exam if failed

Additional Notes

• Traveler’s permanent address must be more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Up to two weeks of return to orientation (RTO) time may be considered
• No ventilated patients on this unit
• Navy blue scrubs required
• EPIC EMR experience preferred
