Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Dialysis RN)

Location: Melbourne, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

  • Specialty: Dialysis RN
  • Responsibilities:
    • Perform Hemodialysis (HD) and Therapeutic Plasma Exchange (TPE) in the unit and at bedside
    • Perform Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) at bedside
  • Average Daily Census: 30 patients

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum Specialty Experience: 1 year (highest required)
  • Prior travel experience: Not accepted for first-timers (i.e., prior travel experience required)

Work Schedule & Float

  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period
  • On-call Requirement: Yes, scheduled during week and weekends; every other Saturday required, Sunday varies
  • Floating: Yes, within scope to multiple nearby facilities

Certifications & Licensure

  • Required Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • License: Florida State or compact license required at time of submission (no pending licenses accepted)

Special Skills & Experience Required

  • 1:2 Patient Ratio experience
  • Experience with Prismaflex CRRT/TPE
  • Experience with Amia peritoneal cycler-CCPD
  • Administration of blood/blood products during treatment
  • Experience with Baxter, Fresenius J/K, Gambro dialysis machines
  • Ability to initiate and set up dialysis treatments
  • Machine alarm troubleshooting
  • Post dialysis treatment care
  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Symptom management during dialysis

Additional Requirements

  • Two professional references from authority figures (Manager, Supervisor, Charge Nurse, or Director) within the last 12 months
  • Flu vaccine required during flu season (10/31 - 3/31), with medical or religious exemptions only
  • Solid-colored scrubs required (matching top and bottom, no logos or prints)
  • Charting system: Sunrise (no prior experience required)
  • Free parking with decal provided at orientation

  • Trauma Level: Level II Adult
  • Total Staffed Beds: 514

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, updated annually
  • Various federal and state background screenings required (e.g., EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG)
  • Florida AHCA Level II fingerprinting clearance required prior to start (Livescan electronic fingerprinting accepted nationwide)
  • Education verification required; certain institutions are not accepted
  • Physical exam within 6 months prior to start (valid for 5 years once on file)
  • Fit mask test within 12 months prior to start (strict mask types and shaving policy)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 3 months prior to start
  • Required immunization titers within 5 years: Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (must include marijuana)
  • Annual TB questionnaire required
  • Facility-specific documents and attestations must be completed
