Job Description
- Perform delegated duties to ensure a safe OR environment.
- Ensure equipment is cleaned and functioning properly.
- Facilitate operative procedures maximizing patient safety.
- Expertise in sterile and aseptic techniques.
- Knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and related technologies.
Role Expectations
- Proficient in clinical skills specific to Perioperative Services.
- Working knowledge of sterile technique and surgical specialties.
- Provide patient comfort, safety, privacy, and respect in perioperative settings.
- Develop expertise within surgical specialties.
- Knowledgeable about equipment, instrumentation, and supplies.
- Effective response in emergent situations, including CPR and code situations.
- Manage time effectively to complete caseload and OR turnover within timelines.
- Floating to ambulatory sister site as needed.
- Exempt from call.
Schedule
- 4x10 hour shifts, 8:45 PM to 7:15 AM (variable schedule).
Requirements
Certifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA provider only
- National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) certification
- CPR certification required
- ACLS, PALS, NRP certifications may be relevant but not explicitly required for this role
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of Level 1 trauma experience required (highest years of experience stated)

Compliance & Documentation
Background Checks & Verifications
- Background check within 6 months of start (includes education and work history verification).
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days prior to start.
- National Sex Offender Search within 30 days prior to start.

- Two manager or supervisor references from the last 24 months required.
- Employment application must include at least 7 years of work history.

Health & Immunizations
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months of start.
- TB questionnaire required.
- Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (full vaccine series or signed declination)
- Varicella
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap preferred)
- Flu vaccination or signed declination required for 2025-26 season.
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen including methamphetamines within 3 months prior to start.
Other Health Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (Aya standard).
- Fit mask test within 1 year prior to start (N95 or equivalent).
- Vaccine declination/waiver form if declining certain vaccines.
Facility Specific Requirements
- Must be fully available for compliance needs up until start date.
- Professional appearance policy must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
- Job description must be signed prior to start.
- Completion of required online modules (Compass) prior to start for badge issuance.
- Respirator clearance and fit testing may be completed onsite if necessary.
- Completion of advanced screening release authorization form required.
Summary
This is a travel contract position for a Surgical Technician with a minimum of 2 years Level 1 trauma experience.
