Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (L&D) - Travel/Contract
Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)

Job Description
- Position: Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN)
- High-risk L&D experience required
- Rotating 3x12 hour shifts (Day/Night): 0630-1900 & 1830-0700
- 4 weekend shifts per contract required
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC certified
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- AWHONN Advanced
- C-EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - If not currently held, AWHONN can be a placeholder but must register for C-EFM course
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - recommended
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - required if working in ED or Pediatrics (not required for ED only)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - as required by unit
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in specialty (L&D)
- Prior travel experience required (must have completed at least 1 prior travel contract or equivalent)
Licensure & Compliance
- Valid state nursing license required prior to start
- Background checks including criminal, education verification, and federal/state screenings required
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- Immunizations and health documentation required:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within last year (or annual questionnaire if prior positive)
- Documentation of MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccines or positive titers
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
- Varicella vaccine or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (strict guidelines)
Competency Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (must score 80% or higher) within 3 years
- Color Blind Testing (online or in-person)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam with specific scoring requirements (for applicable units)
- Other competency exams as required by unit
Additional Requirements
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license information
- Valid driver's license if driving is an essential job function
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start
- Photo for badge with specific guidelines (clear, centered, no glare, solid background)
Schedule & Work Environment
- High-risk Labor & Delivery unit
- Rotating shifts with day and night coverage
- Must be able to work weekends (4 required per contract)
