Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (L&D) - Travel/Contract

Job Description

• Position: Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN)
• High-risk L&D experience required
• Rotating 3x12 hour shifts (Day/Night): 0630-1900 & 1830-0700
• 4 weekend shifts per contract required

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC certified
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• AWHONN Advanced
• C-EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - If not currently held, AWHONN can be a placeholder but must register for C-EFM course
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - recommended
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - required if working in ED or Pediatrics (not required for ED only)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - as required by unit

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in specialty (L&D)
• Prior travel experience required (must have completed at least 1 prior travel contract or equivalent)

Licensure & Compliance

• Valid state nursing license required prior to start
• Background checks including criminal, education verification, and federal/state screenings required
• Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
• Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
• Immunizations and health documentation required:

  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within last year (or annual questionnaire if prior positive)
  • Documentation of MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccines or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
  • Varicella vaccine or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (strict guidelines)

Competency Requirements

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (must score 80% or higher) within 3 years
• Color Blind Testing (online or in-person)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam with specific scoring requirements (for applicable units)
• Other competency exams as required by unit

Additional Requirements

• Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
• Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license information
• Valid driver's license if driving is an essential job function
• Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start
• Photo for badge with specific guidelines (clear, centered, no glare, solid background)

Schedule & Work Environment

• High-risk Labor & Delivery unit
• Rotating shifts with day and night coverage
• Must be able to work weekends (4 required per contract)
