Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity
Location: Bristol, Tennessee
Specialty: Registered Nurse
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Schedule & Work Details
- 36/36 or 36/48 schedule (36/48 if confirmed by 01/31/26)
- Every other weekend off
- No call required
- Floating to other units required
- General orientation begins on Sundays (online CBLs)
- 16 hours of non-billable orientation included
- Hospital may cancel one shift biweekly without penalty due to census changes
- Additional shifts may be available as overtime, subject to census needs
- Expected to participate in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical care
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience (community hospital experience required)
- BLS certification required
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred
- First-time travelers accepted
- Must live at least 100 miles from the facility
- Prior travel experience not required
Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (AHA Instructor or Provider; RQI accepted)
- ACLS (AHA Instructor or Provider; RQI accepted) – verify unit requirements
- PALS (AHA Instructor or Provider; RQI accepted) – verify unit requirements
- NRP required for ER (can be pending at start, highly preferred before start)
- TNCC highly preferred for ER but not required
- State nursing license primary source verification required
- NURSYS verification required
- NIH Stroke Certification – check if required or preferred
Background Checks & Compliance
- Background check within 30 days of start covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Education verification required
- Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check required if licensed/certified in TN or working in TN
- Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement required
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required annually)
- Fit mask testing completed onsite (previous fit tests from non-facility not accepted)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility guidelines
- MMR titers (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella) or documentation of vaccination/boosters
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
- Varicella titer or documentation of vaccination/boosters
- Standard 9-panel drug screen within 14 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept 29 – Mar 31)
Additional Facility-Specific Requirements
- Photo for badge within 48 hours of contract signing
- Completion of staff info form within 24 hours of contract signing
- Review and compliance with department-specific uniform guidelines, dress code, contaminated sharps/body fluid exposure statement, smoking/tobacco use policy, influenza policy, and respirator medical evaluation
- Respirator medical clearance and questionnaire must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing
- CDC facial hair guidelines for respirator use must be reviewed
