Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Med Surg) - Elizabethtown, Kentucky

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (Med Surg)
• Shift: 7 PM - 7 AM, every 3rd weekend
• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Contract Length: 13 weeks

Experience & Licensure Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in Med Surg nursing
• Experience with interpretation of dysrhythmias and tele remote monitoring required
• No first-time travelers (prior travel experience required)
• Must hold a valid Kentucky or compact nursing license
• BLS certification required

Certifications & Verifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
• NURSYS verification required for all RNs
• Education verification required (transcript or diploma acceptable if verification unavailable)
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification, CPI) — check unit-specific requirements

Background & Compliance Checks

• 7-year criminal background check within one year of start, updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
• State-specific abuse registry check (KY) if applicable
• Drug screening: Negative 9-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start
• References: 2 professional references required

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required by facility but required by agency standards)
• Fit mask test (respirator fit test) updated annually; waiver process available for failed tests
• Immunizations/vaccinations required:

  • Tdap within 10 years
  • 2 MMR vaccines or IgG titers for measles, mumps, rubella
  • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer, series, or declination
  • 2 Varicella vaccines or IgG titer
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
  • Baseline TB risk assessment within 90 days of start, updated annually
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
• COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required

Additional Requirements

• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Color blind testing prior to start
• Competency exam required for clinical candidates prior to start
• Photo for badge (headshot with solid light background)
• Employment application required per agency standards
• Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be updated annually

This position is ideal for experienced Med Surg RNs with prior travel contract experience who meet the licensure, certification, and health compliance requirements.
