Job Opportunity: Nuclear Med Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)
Location: Orangeburg, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Nuclear Medicine Technology (Nuclear Med Tech)
- Shift: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM with rotating on-call 7 days a week
- Weekend Requirement: Call only
- Holiday Requirement: Call only
- Floating: Yes, between General Nuclear Medicine and Cardiology service lines (no floating to sister facilities)
- Start Date: Approximately 2-3 weeks from offer
Experience & Certification Requirements
- Years of Experience Required: 3 years
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)
- Certifications/Licenses Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certification preferred
- NMTCB(N) or ARRT(N) certification (mandatory)
- South Carolina QRSA State License in Nuclear Medicine and Radiology or Computed Tomography
- Preferred Certifications:
- ARRT (CT) certification (not required)
- B.S. or B.A. degree preferred
Clinical Experience Required
Experience with the following procedures is required:
- Bone scans (whole body and 3 phase)
- HIDA scans
- GI Bleed studies
- Lymphoscintigraphy
- Parathyroid imaging
- Thyroid uptake
- Renal scans with Lasix
- Lung scans
- MUGA scans
- WBC infection imaging
- MPI stress tests
Additional Requirements
- Radiation Badge: Required and must be provided by the agency (facility does NOT provide badges)
- Radius Rule: 60 miles
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Hurricane Season: Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June-November, peak in August-September)

Required Documentation & Compliance
- Proof of work eligibility (I-9, E-Verify)
- Copy of Driver’s License/State ID
- Social Security Card or SSN verification
- Background checks including:
- SSN Trace
- County and state criminal checks (7 years)
- Sex Offender Registry
- National Criminal and FACIS 3
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks updated every contract renewal
- Education verification (diploma/transcripts)
- Primary source verification of all licenses and certifications
- NURSYS verification for applicable licenses
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Physical exam updated annually, including specialized physical assessment for sterile processors if applicable
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tdap within 10 years or declination form
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or vaccination series)
- Varicella (positive titer or vaccination series)
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- TB testing: T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days of start, with follow-up as needed
- Flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30)
- COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
- Respirator medical clearance annually (RespSafety questionnaire)
- Color blindness testing prior to start
- Competency exams as applicable (medication/pharmacology, OR competency)
- Facility-specific orientation modules and first day instructions must be completed prior to start
- Clear, passport-style photo for badge required before start
Notes
- Candidates cannot start without a radiation badge; badges may take 5-7 days to process and ship
- Facility may accommodate block scheduling with prior approval (not guaranteed)
- All required documents and certifications must be current and valid at the time of start (no certifications expiring within 30 days of start accepted)
- Travelers must upload vaccination records and required documentation into the facility’s system as instructed
This position is ideal for Nuclear Med Techs with at least 3 years of experience, appropriate certifications, and the ability to work rotating call shifts in a Level II Trauma acute care setting. Prior travel experience is not required, making it suitable for first-time travel healthcare professionals.
