Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Gastrointestinal (GI) Specialty

Location: Abilene, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position: RN with GI specialty
  • Must be able to work 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts, plus on-call duties
  • Advanced procedure experience required
  • Assist or circulate during advanced GI procedures such as:
    • ERCP
    • PEG placement
    • EUS
    • Spyglass
    • FNA/FNB
    • Capsule endoscopy
    • Bronchoscopies and EBUS
  • Experience with moderate sedation and pain management preferred
  • Prior travel experience preferred (not explicitly required)

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted
  • Other certifications may be required as applicable (e.g., NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM, ENPC)

    • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); religious or medical exemptions accepted
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen with THC within 10 business days prior to start; no pending results allowed

Additional Requirements

  • Must complete facility-specific documents and acknowledgments prior to start (e.g., vaccination info, TB and occupational exposure, confidentiality, compliance, patient-centered pledge)
  • Must complete orientation modules (~3-4 hours)
  • Two professional references required within 3 years of start
  • Resume/application required
  • Skills checklist required and must be updated annually
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam required as applicable
  • Color blindness testing required
