Job Summary: Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: Jersey City, New Jersey
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details

- Call: 2x per schedule

Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of current acute care or OR experience (highest requirement)
- Must be able to circulate and scrub in the OR
- Experience required in:
- Robotic surgery
- ENT
- Orthopedic
- Vascular
- General surgery
- Thoracic
- Neurosurgery
Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Required for Adult Critical Care, ED, MS/Tele, Outpatient Surgery, PCU, L&D (verify unit-specific requirements)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - Required for ED, Outpatient Surgery, PACU, PICU, Pediatrics (verify unit-specific requirements)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Required for L&D, Mother-Baby, NICU, Nursery, Antepartum, Special Care Nursery
- CHEMO Certification - Required as applicable for chemotherapy administration
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - Beginner and Intermediate levels required for Mother-Baby and L&D RNs
- State RN License - Must be current and verified
- NURSYS Verification - Required as applicable
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit and specialty (e.g., Management of Assaultive Behavior for ER, Peds ER, Behavioral Health RNs)
Prior Travel Experience
- First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience NOT required)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Check: Criminal background check required within 30 days of start, including alias and multi-level searches
- Drug Screen: 10-panel urine drug screen within 30 days of start
- Health Documents:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframe
- Physical exam within 12 months, cleared to perform essential job functions
- Immunizations and titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
- Fit test and respiratory clearance as applicable
- Latex allergy questionnaire if job tasks require glove use
- Skills Checklist: Must submit scrub and circulate skills checklist
- Work History: Minimum 7 years of work history required; New Jersey candidates require verification of at least 1 year prior to start with no gaps over 30 days
- References: Two references within last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference
Additional Information
- Must complete facility-specific orientation and education sign-offs prior to start
- Must comply with facility floating policy if switching assignments within the system
- Pass/fail competency exams (medication, EKG, dysrhythmia) required with remediation policies in place
- Various CEU requirements depending on specialty and unit (e.g., Med Surg, Stroke, Trauma CEUs)
- On-site fit testing mandatory for respirator use
- Vendor medical clearance and TB questionnaire required for candidates with history of positive TB test
This position offers a challenging and diverse surgical environment in a Level 2 Trauma Center with a broad range of surgical specialties. It is suitable for RNs with strong acute care and OR experience who are comfortable circulating and scrubbing in multiple surgical specialties. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
