Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Skokie, Illinois
Contract Length: 6 months

Job Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (Ortho Hospital, stepdown unit with complex spine patients)
• Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• On-Call: None
• Floating: Yes, within other Med-Surg and ICU units within the health system
• Holiday Requirement: Yes
• Patient Ratio: 2:1

Experience Requirements

• Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year in specialty (first-time travelers accepted)
• Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Certifications Required

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• NIH Stroke Certification (NIHSS)

Additional Requirements & Information

• Locals accepted with no radius restrictions
• Floating may include Med-Surg and ICU units
• Pass/Fail EKG and Medication exams required upon arrival
• Medication, Dysrhythmia/EKG, and Competency exams required prior to start
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by a physician
• Fit mask test required within 12 months of start (specific mask types accepted)
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (if history of positive TB)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (vaccine series or positive titer)
  • Hepatitis B titer required (declination or booster acceptable for low titer)
• Drug testing: 10 panel within 30 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
• Vision testing (Snellen and Ishihara Color Vision) within 1 year of start
• Two professional references required

Work Environment

• Stepdown unit focused on orthopedic and complex spine patients
• Patient care ratio 2:1
• Floating within Med-Surg and ICU units as needed

This position is suitable for RNs with at least 1 year of experience who are comfortable working night shifts in a stepdown orthopedic setting and are willing to float within related units. Required certifications and competency exams must be current and completed as specified.
