Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Contract Length: 7 weeks

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• 1st time travelers accepted
• Prior travel experience: Not required

Patient Population

• Adults to Geriatrics

Unit & Work Setting

• Telemetry unit
• Diagnoses include CHF, MI/Chest pain (pre- and post-cath), Dysrhythmias (pre- and post-device implants), Hypo-/Hypertension, Pleural effusion, Sepsis, PE/DVT/vascular issues
• Nurse to patient ratio: 1:4-5
• 16 rooms
• Unit systems: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
• Scrub color: Navy Blue

Schedule & Work Conditions

• Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
• Weekends: Every other weekend
• Floating: Yes
• Call: None
• Holidays:

  • If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it
  • If 2 major holidays, expected to work both
  • If 3 major holidays, expected to work 2
• Major holidays include New Year’s Eve/Day, Spring Break, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• NIH Stroke Certification

Compliance & Orientation

• Full compliance required to start on time
• Non-compliance results in 2-week delay due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
• Number of Non-Billable Orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 7 weeks = 7 hours)

Screening & Competencies

• Clinical screen required to determine clinical fit
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required
• Color Blind Testing required
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required (3 attempts max)
• Competency Exam required

Background & Health Requirements

• Background check required within 30 days of start
• Education verification required (degree verification or official transcripts/diploma)
• State license verification (Georgia RN license required)
• NURSYS verification within 30 days prior to start
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months (TB questionnaire required annually)
• Immunizations/vaccinations required:

  • Rubeola (Measles) - 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
  • Mumps - 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
  • Rubella - 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B series or signed declination
  • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer
• Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (cannot start with results pending)
• Flu vaccination or declination required for flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)

Additional Requirements

• References: 2 clinical references required
• Skills checklist updated within 12 months
• Work history verification of most recent employer required (can be pending at start with proof)
