Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Augusta, Georgia
Contract Length: 7 weeks
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
- 1st time travelers accepted
- Prior travel experience: Not required
Patient Population
- Adults to Geriatrics
Unit & Work Setting
- Telemetry unit
- Diagnoses include CHF, MI/Chest pain (pre- and post-cath), Dysrhythmias (pre- and post-device implants), Hypo-/Hypertension, Pleural effusion, Sepsis, PE/DVT/vascular issues
- Nurse to patient ratio: 1:4-5
- 16 rooms
- Unit systems: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
Schedule & Work Conditions
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
- Weekends: Every other weekend
- Floating: Yes
- Call: None
- Holidays:
- If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it
- If 2 major holidays, expected to work both
- If 3 major holidays, expected to work 2
- Major holidays include New Year’s Eve/Day, Spring Break, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification
Compliance & Orientation
- Full compliance required to start on time
- Non-compliance results in 2-week delay due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
- Number of Non-Billable Orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 7 weeks = 7 hours)
Screening & Competencies
- Clinical screen required to determine clinical fit
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required
- Color Blind Testing required
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required (3 attempts max)
- Competency Exam required
Background & Health Requirements
- Background check required within 30 days of start
- Education verification required (degree verification or official transcripts/diploma)
- State license verification (Georgia RN license required)
- NURSYS verification within 30 days prior to start
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months (TB questionnaire required annually)
- Immunizations/vaccinations required:
- Rubeola (Measles) - 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
- Mumps - 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
- Rubella - 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
- Hepatitis B series or signed declination
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (cannot start with results pending)
- Flu vaccination or declination required for flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
Additional Requirements
- References: 2 clinical references required
- Skills checklist updated within 12 months
- Work history verification of most recent employer required (can be pending at start with proof)
