Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity
Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Specialty: Registered Nurse (Pediatrics - Post Anesthesia Care and Pre Testing)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Requirements
- Experience: 2-3 years in Pediatric Post Anesthesia Care and Pre Testing
- Schedule: Four 10-hour shifts, Monday to Friday (no weekends or holidays)
- Shift Times: Variable start times between 6:00 AM and 11:00 AM (e.g., 6a-4:30p, 7a-5:30p, etc.)
- On-Call: None
- Licensure:
- Must hold an active D.C. nursing license OR
- Have a pending D.C. license application with the Board of Nursing for at least 3-4 weeks (proof of submission required)
- Applicants who have not applied for a D.C. license are not eligible
Certifications & Competencies Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only, valid and not expiring within 30 days of start
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only, valid and not expiring within 30 days of start
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only, valid and not expiring within 30 days of start
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AHA/AAP only, valid and not expiring within 30 days of start
- Chemotherapy certification (if applicable to unit)
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
- Competency Exam
- Pass/Fail Medication Calculation Exam at orientation (must score 84% or higher, 2 attempts allowed)
Background & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Background Check within 30 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including:
- SSN Trace
- Counties, States, Nationwide
- National Sex Offender Registry
- FACIS Level 3
- Education Verification (transcript/diploma accepted if pending)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM check
- HHS/OIG check
- Education Verification
- NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP)
- State License Primary Source Verification
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 30 days of start, including Latex Allergy information
- Fit test for N95 mask (1860 or 1870+) or PAPRs within 1 year, updated annually
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years (TD and DTap not accepted)
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 60 days of start or chest x-ray if previously positive
- TB Questionnaire required for all candidates
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive quantitative titer with lab values
- Hepatitis B series and quantitative surface antibody titer with lab values; declination form accepted if declining
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive quantitative titer with lab values
- 10 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days of start (must include marijuana)
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption form required during flu season
- COVID-19 vaccine or declination required for tracking
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Completion of Cornerstone Modules prior to start (includes COVID-19 vaccine training and immunization best practices)
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing for medication calculation
- Photo for badge (must meet specific guidelines)
- Medication Study Guide provided prior to start for orientation test preparation
- Emergency Contact information completion
- Additional modules for non-RN roles (not applicable here)
Additional Notes
- Missed shifts due to call-outs must be made up at the end of the contract, with extra days added if needed
- Modules are required to be completed within the first week of assignment but are not billable
- Clearance must be obtained prior to the first day of work
- No background/license exemptions accepted
