Job Opportunity: Dietitian (Dietary Services) - Travel/Contract
Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Specialty: Dietitian (Dietary Services)
- Setting: High acuity, non-ICU
- Facility Type: Level I Trauma Center, Children's Hospital, Teaching Hospital, Short-term Acute Care
- Daily Case Load: 6-10 patients per day
- Work Schedule: Monday to Friday (no weekends required)
- On-call: Not required
- Floating: Not required
- Locals: No locals accepted within 75 miles
- Pending State License: Accepted
- Guaranteed Hours: Contracted hours between 36-48 hours/week; facility may call off up to 3 times
- COVID Vaccination: Required (religious and medical exemptions accepted with proper documentation)
Experience & Skills Required
- Minimum 2 years of experience in ICU and nutrition support, including custom parenteral nutrition (PN) managing macros and micros
- First-time travelers accepted
- Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required
Job Responsibilities
- Provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) to adult patients in acute care and progressive floors
- Manage nutrition support, including enteral nutrition (EN) and parenteral nutrition (PN) with custom formulas (macros and micros)
- Provide diet education for various disease states
- Participate in interdisciplinary plan of care rounds
Certifications & Licensure
- State license required (New Mexico license accepted; pending license accepted)
- BLS: Not required
- Other certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP) not required for this position
- Facility requires completion of orientation safety manual acknowledgment
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within one year of start
- Fingerprinting required onsite during orientation (NM Department of Health clearance)
- Education verification required (diploma or transcript acceptable if 3rd party verification unavailable)
- Drug screening required within 30 days of start (negative result)
- Physical exam required within 1 year prior to start
- Fit mask test required within 1 year of start (specific N95 masks accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
- Immunizations required:
- Rubeola (Measles): 2 vaccines or positive IGG titer
- Mumps: 2 vaccines or positive IGG titer
- Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive IGG titer
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive IGG titer (history of disease not accepted)
- Hepatitis B: Declination, series, or titer required
- Seasonal Flu Vaccine: Required year-round with exemptions accepted
- COVID vaccine no longer required but reporting still necessary
Additional Notes
- Valid non-local driver’s license required (ID cards not accepted)
- Location is not near public transportation; candidates must have reliable transportation
- Work experience verification of 3 years required
- Two professional references within three years of hire required

- Orientation includes Cerner training (optional test-out available for experienced candidates)
- Overtime applies after 48 hours worked (for contracts signed on or after 10/30/2025)
