Position Details

- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
Patient Population & Unit Highlights
- Care for childbearing women and newborns: antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, newborn care
- Level 3 Perinatal center with approximately 70% high-risk complex patients
- Level 4 NICU (regional center)
- Approximately 150 births per month
- Two operating rooms on unit for C-sections, BTLs, PP D&Cs
- Second L&D RN acts as "baby catcher" for well, non-compromised babies

Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check (including nationwide, sex offender, FACIS L1, WATCH WA Access to Criminal History)
- Education verification or diploma/transcript for RNs
- Various background checks including EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, Sex Offender Search, and Washington State-specific WATCH search
- Certifications verification including ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification, and others as applicable
- Competency exams such as Medication Test/Pharmacology, Color Blind Testing, Dysrhythmia/EKG, Conscious Sedation (if applicable)
- State license primary source verification
- Facility-specific agreements and checklists prior to start
- Photo for badge (DMV style, no selfies)
- Physical exam (required by agency, not facility)
- Fit mask test within 9-12 months of start (3M N95 preferred; PAPR available onsite if needed)
- Immunizations and health documents:
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility guidelines
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Hepatitis B: positive titer or declination required (vaccines alone not sufficient)
- Varicella: titer or 2 vaccines required (history of disease not accepted at this facility)
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption/declination with education module completion during flu season
- COVID vaccination or declination required for tracking
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within one year of start (agency requirement)
- Additional trainings such as Umbilical Cord Blood Collection Training for L&D RNs
- Suicide prevention training required for multi-state licensed nurses working in Washington (6-hour course)
Additional Notes
- Guaranteed hours: In case of low census, providers may be called off without charge or placed on-call for up to 4 hours per shift in a 2-week cycle
- Ambulatory or surgical services closed on weekends/holidays may not schedule travelers during those times
- Performance evaluation requested at end of assignment (Montlake location)
- EPIC/Alaris integration video and attestation required before start
- Radiation badges no longer provided by agency for new candidates; must be supplied by facility if needed
This position is ideal for experienced L&D nurses comfortable with high-risk perinatal care in a Magnet, teaching hospital setting, who are flexible with night shifts and weekend work. First-time travelers are welcome, and pending licenses are accepted.
