Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks

- Staffing Ratios: 1:3-5 based on acuity
- Floating: May be required to float to Med-Surg, PCU, ICU units; refusal to float may result in contract termination
- Charge Nurse: May be required to cover charge nurse responsibilities with training and resources provided
- Weekend Work: Expected to work every other weekend; consecutive weekends may be required based on operational needs
- Call-Ins: Must make up call-in shifts during pay period if 0.9 FTE or shifts added to end of contract if unable; 1.2 FTE call-ins added to end of contract
- First Time Travelers: Accepted

Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted
- Level 1 or Level II Trauma Experience
- Telemetry

Experience Requirements
- Strong cardiac/post-op heart experience required
- Years of specialty experience: Not explicitly stated, but implied to require significant cardiac/post-op experience (recommend minimum 2+ years in relevant specialty)

Licensure & Compliance
- Indiana RN license required (note: effective 11/30/2024, Indiana RNs are generally not allowed to work at IU Health facilities except for Periop/OR, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers)
- COVID-19 vaccine required (medical or religious exemptions accepted with documentation)
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months (3M N95 or approved respirators)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
- Immunizations/vaccinations required:
- Rubeola (Measles): Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
- Mumps: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
- Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
- Hepatitis B: Series, titer, or signed declination required
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Preferred but not required
- Flu vaccination/documentation required for flu season (9/30 - 3/31); no declinations accepted
- TB test (PPD, QuantiFERON-TB Gold, or T-SPOT) within 1 year; chest x-ray required if positive history
- Color blind exam (Ishihara or equivalent) with 100% minimum score
Background & Documentation
- Background check within 90 days of start including 7 years of residence/work history, SSN trace, county/state/national checks, sex offender registry, FACIS Level III
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Education verification and transcript/diploma required
- Skills checklist within 12 months and annually
- Minimum 2 professional references from recent employment with supervisory titles
- Employment application covering 7 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days
Additional Notes
- Travelers expected to complete mandatory IU Health orientation modules prior to start (22 modules covering safety, compliance, infection prevention, HIPAA, etc.)
- Various facility-specific documents and compliance forms must be completed prior to start
- Refusal to comply with floating or other operational requirements may result in termination
- Locals are not accepted for this travel position
