Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Seattle, Washington
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a travel contract position in Seattle, WA. The role involves working in a variety of surgical and outpatient settings with a focus on pre-op, post-op, and Phase II recovery care.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required.
- Prior travel experience required; first-time travelers are not accepted.
Unit & Patient Population
- Float required (may be assigned to different units).
- Patient diagnoses include pre-op for inpatients and outpatients, Phase II recovery, and discharge.
- Surgical cases include general surgery (lap chole, appendectomy, bowel resection), vascular procedures, plastics, mandibular surgery, eye procedures, gynecology, dental, thoracic (no open hearts), podiatry, and ortho.
- Occasionally pre-op for cath lab (vascular procedures only) and endoscopy.
- Approximately 3-4% pediatric patients; travelers without pediatric experience will not be assigned to pediatrics.

Required Skills & Competencies
- Cardiac monitoring with dysrhythmia recognition and management.
- Experience with surgery cases: ENT, General Surgery, Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics (including spine and total joints), Urology.
- Preferred experience with Cardiac, Plastics, Podiatry, Robotics, Thoracic, and Transplant surgeries.
- Medication administration including narcotics/opioid analgesics and reversal agents.
- Pre/Post-op care including discharge instructions, pre-op assessment, education, and medications.
- Pain assessment and management.
- Breathing treatments, CPAP/BiPAP.
Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Preferred
Licensure
- Active compact nursing license accepted.
- Must comply with Washington state licensing and demographic attestation requirements for multi-state licensed nurses.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years.
- Drug screening (10 panel) within 90 days of start.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- TDAP (within 10 years) or declination
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Flu vaccine during flu season or declination
- COVID vaccine or declination
- Respirator fit testing (Fit Mask) required for travel candidates.
- References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years.
Training & Modules
- EPIC system experience required.
- Completion of Providence-specific WorkRamp modules including:
- Core regulatory requirements annually
- Specialty-specific modules as applicable
- Regional and facility-specific training modules
- Float policy acknowledgment required (may float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance).
Additional Notes
- Scrubs provided.
- Candidates must be prepared to float to other Providence facilities as needed.
- Pediatric experience required to be assigned pediatric patients.
This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of experience, prior travel contract experience, and strong surgical and perioperative nursing skills, who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-specialty ambulatory and inpatient environment.
