Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks

- NIH Stroke Certification: Required for most ICU, PCU, ED, and Brain & Spine units; follows 2-year expiration.
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required for all RN/LVN candidates prior to start.
- Unit-Specific Competency Exam: Required.
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Required for all RNs within 1 year of start (except certain excluded units and fully remote positions). Must be updated annually. Minimum passing score 76%. Remediation process in place for failures.
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement: Required annually.
- State License Verification: Required within 30 days of start.
- NURSYS Verification: Required for RNs.
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-Year Criminal Background Check within 90 days of start, including SS Trace, counties lived/worked, nationwide search, sex offender registry, and MVR if driving is required. FBI and BCI fingerprinting results must be obtained prior to adjudication.
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring required.
- Education Accreditation Confirmation: Must be graduate of an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, NLN CNEA, or CASN). Foreign education requires approval.
- Transcript/Diploma: Required for verification; GED or HS equivalency acceptable for RRTs.
- Fingerprinting: Ohio BCI & FBI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start using specific code (3701.881). New fingerprinting required if break in service >90 days or results older than 1 year. Proof of fingerprinting completion required.
- Pending Background Check Attestation: Must be collected if fingerprint results are pending at start.
- Confidential Fraud Waste Abuse and Compliance Reporting Mechanism Form: Required for all candidates.
- Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Training Certificate: Must be completed prior to start and updated annually.
- Ethics and Compliance Policies: Must be reviewed and signed annually for new contracts.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical Exam: Physician documentation within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease. Not required for fully remote roles.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Adult dose (Tdap) required; no expiration within 10 years needed. Not required for fully remote roles.
- TB Testing: Negative PPD, QGold, or TSPOT within 1 year of start or chest x-ray if positive. TB questionnaire required annually in lieu of test. Not required for fully remote roles.
- MMR (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella): 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer required. Boosters required if low titer and no proof of vaccines. Titers must be drawn 28+ days after booster. Not required for fully remote roles.
- Hepatitis B: Titer or 3-vaccine series required; signed declination acceptable. Not required for fully remote roles.
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required unless medically exempt. Boosters required if low titer and no proof of vaccines. Shingles vaccine not accepted as substitute. Not required for fully remote roles.
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start. New travelers cannot start with pending drug screen. Required for all, including fully remote.
- Flu Vaccination: Required during flu season (10/1 - 3/31) or declination with mask-wearing. Contract candidates cannot receive flu vaccine onsite. Not required for fully remote roles.
- COVID-19 Vaccination: Not required but strongly recommended.
Additional Requirements
- References: Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager/director or formal leadership. Charge RN acceptable as second reference.
- Employment Application: Required for all candidates; nursing candidates must include education details.
- Skills Checklist: Required.
- Dress Code and Hand Hygiene Policy: Must be reviewed and signed for contracts signed 5/19/25 and beyond.
