Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Seattle, Washington
Contract Length: 26 weeks (approximately 6 months)
Start Date: January 26
Shifts: 3 shifts per week, 8-hour day shifts on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday (08:30 - 17:00)
Job Description
- Position is in a very large outpatient clinic that serves as a training site for resident physicians (about 36 residents).
- Highly preferred outpatient experience; acute care MS/Tele nurse experience considered.
- Role includes circulating duties with flexibility for other tasks.
- Responsibilities include telephone triage and frequent work with Inbasket messages as part of Epic documentation.
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required.

- Required Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Preferred for OR, required for ICU, ED, MS/Tele floats, Acute Care Float Pool, PACU, and Ambulatory Care specialties
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
- CCRN (Critical Care RN)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Required for all ER RNs; ATCN certificate acceptable in lieu
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy) - Required for specific units (8SA)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
- NIH Stroke Certification - Required for ICU, Neuro ICU, MS/Tele Float, Acute Care Float, ED, and other specified units
- Competency Exams:
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (80% required in Dosage Calculations)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (80% pass required; 2 attempts max) for ICU, MS/Tele, Acute Care Float Pool, ED/ER, PACU, and other units
- Conscious Sedation Competency Exam (required for GI Lab/Endo and some Ambulatory Care roles)
- Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
- General Competency Exam (required)
Licensure
- Washington State RN license required with primary source verification.
- Temporary licenses allowed but must complete fingerprinting and all pending requirements within 30 days to avoid license status issues.
- Multi-state licensed nurses working in WA must complete suicide prevention training and demographic attestation prior to start.
Background Checks & Screening
- 7-year criminal background check required within 45 days of start, including nationwide, sex offender, FACIS Level 1, and WA WATCH searches.
- OIG and SAM checks required.
- Education verification required for Med Lab Techs (not applicable here).
- Sex offender search on NSOPW required.
- Additional state-specific searches as required.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start (not required by UWMC but required by Aya).
- Mask fit test within 12 months of start (specific mask models required).
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination on file.
- Negative TB test (Qgold, Tspot, or 2-step PPD within 90 days) or chest X-ray if positive TB history. Annual TB questionnaire required.
- Immunizations or titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination; vaccine series plus confirmatory titer required if non-immune)
- Varicella
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (09/29 - 03/31).
- COVID vaccination or declination required for tracking purposes.
- Drug screening within past 12 months (required by Aya, not UWMC).
Facility Specific Requirements
- Badge photo required (professional, waist-up, clear lighting, simple background, no hats).
- Must sign facility-specific job description, license acknowledgment, equipment safety form, health history form, policies and procedures acknowledgment, security info form, personal data form, code of conduct acknowledgment, and other facility forms.
- Completion of orientation modules and testing prior to start (modules take 2-3 hours).
- Annual stroke education required for RNs working in Neuro ICU, Neuro Acute Care, Angio, Rehab, MS/Tele, and other specified units.
References & Evaluations
- Two professional references required.
- Performance evaluations may be completed by UW managers after assignment completion.
