Position Details

• Specialty: Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse
• Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15)
• Average Daily Census: 21 patients
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5 for days, nights, and weekends
• Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
• Floating: Will float within scope to other Med Surg and similar units as needed
• Block Scheduling: Not available, but typically can schedule 3 shifts in a row
• Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions
• On-call: Not required
• License: Must have an active Illinois nursing license in hand to apply
• Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days

Experience & Certifications

• Required Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year Med Surg experience

• Cardiac Monitoring & Emergency Response: Telemetry, Rapid Response Teams
• Cardiovascular: Post Angiogram, Post MI care
• Endocrine/Metabolic: IV insulin protocols
• Gastrointestinal: Colostomy care, feeding tube management
• Genitourinary/Renal: Pre/Post Hemodialysis management, renal failure care
• IV Therapy/Phlebotomy: Blood product administration, central line blood draws, peripheral line care, PICC line management, IV starts
• Medications: Heparin, Insulin, PCA
• Neurological/Psychiatric: CVA, pre/post neurosurgery care
• Orthopedic Trauma: Preferred
• Surgical Drain Care: Preferred
• Respiratory: Chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks
• Professional Knowledge: Isolation precautions, wound care/wound vac
• Other Preferences: Previous charge nurse experience, Cerner charting experience, Level I trauma experience

Summary

This is a 13-week travel contract for a Med Surg RN with night shifts in a Level I trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Springfield, IL. The role requires at least 1 year of Med Surg experience, active IL RN license, and certifications including BLS and NIH.
