Nursing Supervisor - Contract Position

Location: York, Maine
Employment Type: Contract
Shift: Full-time night shift (7:00 pm to 7:30 am) with variable shifts and call rotation required


Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Nursing Supervisor to coordinate and organize personnel and resources to ensure effective patient care. The role involves crisis management, policy interpretation, and facilitating communication across departments to maintain quality and safety standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure continuous availability of urgent care, emergency, inpatient, and operative services
  • Monitor daily operations through electronic systems, communication, and unit rounds to maintain patient care effectiveness and satisfaction
  • Allocate and redirect resources based on patient acuity, unit needs, and staff skill mix to assure safety and quality of care
  • Coordinate patient admissions to optimize placement, capacity, and satisfaction for patients, families, and providers
  • Collaborate with administrators and nursing directors during high census periods, working with Emergency, Surgery, Critical Care, Cath Lab, and Inpatient Nursing Units

Requirements

  • Experience:
    • Minimum 3 years progressive management/leadership experience required
    • 5 years progressive management/leadership experience preferred
    • Previous experience as a Charge Nurse, Unit Coordinator, or Director preferred
  • Licensure:
    • Current Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Maine or Compact Licensure required
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS
    • BLS/BCLS

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Additional Notes

  • Timecards must be filled out properly to be processed
  • Prior travel experience is not specified as required for this position
