Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Requirements

• License: PA or compact nursing license required at time of submission
• Experience: 5+ years preferred (3-5+ years required, defaulting to higher value)
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) required
  • NIH Stroke Certification required
• Skills:

  • Scrub & circulate for all types of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) cases
  • Level I Trauma experience required
  • Charge nurse experience preferred
  • Floating to general OR as needed
• Call Requirements:

  • Weekend and weekday call required
  • Typical schedule: Monday-Friday 3:30 PM - 7:00 AM; Weekends with various shifts including 7 AM - 7 PM, 7 PM - 7 AM, or 7 AM - 7 AM
  • On-call based on department needs, typically 1 weekend per month and 1 day per week
• Charting System: Cerner (Surginet)
• Scrubs: Provided

Prior Travel Experience

• No explicit prior travel experience required

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background Checks:

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, updated annually
  • Sex offender registry, FACIS Level 1M, education verification, PA statewide PATCH search (for PA facilities)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire
  • Fingerprinting via Pennsylvania Department of Human Services required within 5 years of start and updated every 5 years (PA placements only)
• Education Verification:

  • Highest level of education verified; official transcript acceptable in lieu of diploma
• Licensing Verification:

  • Primary source verification required
  • NURSYS verification required for RN, LPN/LVN, AP
• Health Documents:

  • Physical exam within 2 months of start
  • Fit test within 12 months of start (3M 1870+ model required)
  • Current Tdap vaccine or titer
  • Negative TB test (Qgold or TSPOT within 90 days) or chest X-ray if positive
  • Annual TB questionnaire
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer; exemptions for candidates born before 1957)
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
  • COVID-19 vaccine no longer required prior to start; exemptions require mask-wearing at work
• Competency Exams:

  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Pass/fail basic dysrhythmia exam during orientation (one attempt only)
• Facility Specific:

  • Completion of assigned education modules prior to orientation (approx. 6 hours)
  • Photo for badge required ASAP
• References:

  • Two professional references within 2 years of start
• State Specific:

  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse Search within 12 months of start (required for candidates with contact with minors)

Additional Notes

• Floating to general OR and ability to scrub & circulate in CVOR cases is mandatory
• Weekend and weekday on-call shifts are required
• Scrubs are provided by the facility
• Charting system used is Cerner (Surginet)

This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with trauma and CVOR experience who are comfortable with flexible call schedules and meet the comprehensive compliance requirements.
