Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Durham, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse

  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Floating: Yes
  • Orientation: Bi-weekly sessions
  • Local candidates within 75 miles considered

Experience & Licensure Requirements

  • Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years (highest requirement)
  • Specialty Experience: PCICU experience strongly preferred; NICU, Pediatric Stepdown, and Pediatric RNs also considered
  • Licensure: North Carolina or Compact nursing license in hand

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • Flu vaccination required (no exemptions or declinations accepted)

Additional Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • Immunizations: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Polio, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel within 30 days of start
  • Background checks including SSN trace, education verification, and sanction lists within 90 days of start
  • Two professional references from employment within the last 12 months (at least one supervisor)
  • Skills checklist updated annually
  • Employment application with 7 years of work history

Work Environment & Other Details

  • Flu vaccines are mandatory with no exemptions allowed
  • Candidates must be prepared to float to other units as needed
  • First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates within 75 miles are eligible for local rate consideration

Orientation & Onboarding

  • Orientation occurs bi-weekly
  • Completion of online modules prior to orientation is required
  • Competency exams and unit-specific training required
  • Setup of a facility-specific guest account prior to clearance is mandatory

Prior Travel Experience

  • No explicit prior travel experience required

This position is ideal for Registered Nurses with at least 2 years of experience, preferably with PCICU or pediatric nursing backgrounds, who are flexible with floating and weekend shifts, and who meet all licensure, certification, and health requirements.
