Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity

Location: Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Contract Length: 8 weeks

Job Details

• Employment Type: Travel/Contract

• Weekend coverage every other weekend
• Nurse-to-patient ratios:

  • Days: 1:5
  • Nights: 1:6
• May be assigned to an "Emergency Team" during emergency events, requiring extended stay or relief duties as assigned by unit manager
• Unit accepts first-time travelers

Experience Requirements

• Specialty: Registered Nurse
• Minimum Specialty Experience: More than 1 year in telemetry/medsurg, including cardiac drips, EKG, and Epic system experience
• Prior travel experience: Not required

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only, RQI accepted
• NIH certification
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred but not required

Additional Preferred Certifications (Check unit description for requirements)

• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - required for some specialties
• EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) for L&D RNs

Licensure

• Active Louisiana state nursing license or Compact License required upon submission
• License must be current or in the process of renewal if expiring within 30 days of start

Background and Health Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start, updated monthly
• Education verification of highest level required
• Sex offender search required within 30 days of start, updated monthly
• Physical exam within 12 months indicating good health
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
• Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start
• Immunizations/vaccinations required or proof of immunity:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap required for select units)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 30)

Documentation and Compliance

• Current/valid driver's license or government photo ID (color copy)
• Resume/application required
• Skills checklist updated annually
• Competency exam specific to specialty, minimum 80%, updated annually
• Photo for badge: full color, passport-style, taken within last 6 months
• Fit mask testing (N95) within one year of start; onsite fit testing available if needed
