Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Midland, Texas
Contract Length: 11 weeks


Job Details

  • Work Schedule: Must work Thursday through Saturday block (non-negotiable)
  • Unit: Universal Care Unit (UCU), assist with overflow patient care (Medical-Surgical, MS/Telemetry)
  • Floating: May float within the hospital based on UCU census
  • Shift Pattern: 2 days on / 2 days off start (firm)
  • Education: BSN not required
  • Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Certification
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty
  • Prior Travel Experience: Preferred but not required

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted
  • NIH Stroke Certification – Required for all clinical positions
  • Other Certifications (as applicable):
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – required for ER
    • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – preferred for Labor & Delivery
    • CHEMO (Chemotherapy)
    • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
  • State License Verification: Must be valid and verified within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS Verification: Required within 30 days of start for RN licenses

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 10-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, including SSN trace and all locations lived/worked
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Texas-specific background checks including DPS Criminal History, Employee Misconduct Registry, and Employability Status Check within 30 days prior to start
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; additional onsite drug screen during orientation
  • Physical exam required within 1 year of start, must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract
  • N95 Fit Test (Fit Mask) required within 1 year of start (PAPR not accepted)
  • Immunizations and health documents required within 72 hours of signing contract:
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
    • Rubeola (Measles) – positive titer or 2 vaccines
    • Mumps – positive titer or 2 vaccines
    • Rubella – positive titer or 2 vaccines
    • Hepatitis B – positive titer or series (3 doses)
    • Varicella – positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years
    • Flu vaccination or agency declination (seasonal requirement)

Competency Requirements

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
  • Competency Exam and Age-Specific Competency Exam required within 1 year of start

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Confidentiality and Security Agreement must be reviewed and signed prior to start
  • Drug Screening and Blood Testing Consent Form must be reviewed and signed prior to start
  • TB Questionnaire required for all candidates
  • Compliance Checklist to be signed by candidate and agency
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required and updated annually

Additional Notes

  • Candidate must be prepared to work a firm 2/2 schedule and the specified days (Thursday-Saturday)
  • Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory
  • Floating within hospital units may be required based on census
