Job Opportunity: Physical Therapist (Travel/Contract)

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri

Job Details

• Shift: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (start time flexible up to 8:00 AM)
• Weekend Requirement: Must work one weekend (Saturday and Sunday) during a 4-week period; a day off will be given during that week
• Role: Primary inpatient acute care physical therapy
• Patient Populations: Medicine, surgery, orthopedics, neurology, cardiopulmonary, oncology
• Floating: May float within therapy service lines as needed
• Local Candidates: Not accepted (must be outside a 75-mile radius)
• Pending State License: Accepted

Experience & Requirements

• Years of Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty
• First-Time Travelers: Accepted
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required
• On-Call: Not required

Certifications & Licenses

• Required:

  • State Physical Therapy License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Additional Certifications (may be required depending on unit):

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) or Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) if applicable
• License Verification: Primary source verification required (e.g., NURSYS for Missouri)
• Pending License: Allowed with approval

Skills & Competencies

• Acute care experience required
• Strong communication skills
• Desire to work with a variety of patient populations
• Responsibilities include assessments, documentation, patient/family education, safety, and injury prevention
• Unit-specific competency exams may be required and must be updated annually

• Beds: 1259 staffed beds
• Charting System: EPIC
• Dress Code: Scrubs in black or gray
• Parking: Monthly parking passes available (details provided during orientation)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued ID required
• Criminal background check within 6 months (including statewide and nationwide searches)
• Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Education verification of highest degree related to profession
• Various state-specific background checks and registries as applicable
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (with specific timing requirements)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
• Drug testing within 1 year of start, must remain valid throughout assignment
• Various facility-specific documents including HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality form, hand hygiene, dress code, and orientation modules must be completed prior to start

Additional Notes

• No more than 7 days off allowed within the 13-week contract
• Guaranteed minimum of 3 shifts per 13-week contract
• Candidates must comply with all facility policies and complete required training modules prior to start
• References: Two professional references required, preferably supervisors within the last year
