Job Opportunity: Physical Therapist (Travel/Contract)
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Specialty: Therapy/Rehabilitation (Physical Therapy)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (start time flexible up to 8:00 AM)
- Weekend Requirement: Must work one weekend (Saturday and Sunday) during a 4-week period; a day off will be given during that week
- Role: Primary inpatient acute care physical therapy
- Patient Populations: Medicine, surgery, orthopedics, neurology, cardiopulmonary, oncology
- Floating: May float within therapy service lines as needed
- Local Candidates: Not accepted (must be outside a 75-mile radius)
- Pending State License: Accepted
Experience & Requirements
- Years of Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty
- First-Time Travelers: Accepted
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required
- On-Call: Not required
Certifications & Licenses
- Required:
- State Physical Therapy License
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Additional Certifications (may be required depending on unit):
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) or Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) if applicable
- License Verification: Primary source verification required (e.g., NURSYS for Missouri)
- Pending License: Allowed with approval
Skills & Competencies
- Acute care experience required
- Strong communication skills
- Desire to work with a variety of patient populations
- Responsibilities include assessments, documentation, patient/family education, safety, and injury prevention
- Unit-specific competency exams may be required and must be updated annually
Facility Information
- Type: Short Term Acute Care Hospital
- Beds: 1259 staffed beds
- Charting System: EPIC
- Dress Code: Scrubs in black or gray
- Parking: Monthly parking passes available (details provided during orientation)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued ID required
- Criminal background check within 6 months (including statewide and nationwide searches)
- Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Education verification of highest degree related to profession
- Various state-specific background checks and registries as applicable
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (with specific timing requirements)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, must remain valid throughout assignment
- Various facility-specific documents including HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality form, hand hygiene, dress code, and orientation modules must be completed prior to start
Additional Notes
- No more than 7 days off allowed within the 13-week contract
- Guaranteed minimum of 3 shifts per 13-week contract
- Candidates must comply with all facility policies and complete required training modules prior to start
- References: Two professional references required, preferably supervisors within the last year
