Position Details

Certifications & Licenses Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for multiple units including RRT, CRT, Telemetry, ER, ICU, CCU, Stepdown, PACU, Cath/IR, Endoscopy, L&D, Observation Unit, and LDRP RN travelers. Must be AHA or ARC certified; RQI accepted. Certification must not expire within 30 days of start.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA, RQI, or ARC only. No online-only cards accepted. Required for Pharmacists and RRT. Certification must not expire within 30 days of start.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for Pediatric Units, ER, and PACU. AHA or ARC only; RQI accepted. Certification must not expire within 30 days of start.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required for NICU, Pediatrics, and some RRTs. AHA only. Certification must not expire within 30 days of start.
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course): Required for ER/ED and Pediatric ER travelers. Certification must not expire within 30 days of start.
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring): AWHONN required as applicable.
  • Tech Certification (National): Must be current and valid within 30 days of start.
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement: HIPAA and OSHA/TJC training verification required; must not expire within 90 days of start.
  • STABLE: Required for L&D and NICU RN travelers; must not expire during assignment.
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course): Required for ER and Pediatric ER; certification must be current.
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute): Required for ER/ED, Pediatric ER, and Behavioral Health. Certification must not expire within 30 days of start.
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB): Required for ER/ED, Pediatric ER, and Behavioral Health RNs.
  • NIH Stroke Certification: Required annually for ICU, Neuro ICU, CVICU, SICU, MICU, Telemetry, Stepdown, ER, Pediatric ER, PCU, PACU, Observation Unit, LTACH, IR, and Endoscopy.
  • State License: Primary source verification required; license must be valid with no pending actions and not expire within 30 days of start.
  • NURSYS Verification: Required for RN, LPN/LVN, AP licenses; must authorize work in South Carolina.
  • IV Certification: Required for all LPN/LVN candidates; does not expire.
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication): Required for RNs in specific units; must pass with 84% or higher.
  • Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing: Required for RNs, Electrophysiology Techs, and Monitor Techs.
  • Other Certifications: Lactation Certificate for Women’s RN candidates, OFAC Sanctions List Search, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks.

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Background Check: 7-year background check within 12 months of start required, including alias and multi-state searches.
  • Fingerprinting: Required for certain professionals without 12 months residency proof; state-specific requirements apply.
  • Drug Testing: 5-panel drug screen required within 1 year of start and updated annually.
  • Physical Exam: Physician’s statement within 1 year of start attesting ability to meet physical demands.
  • Immunizations & Health Documents:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for high-risk areas)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start
    • Annual TB Questionnaire
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
    • Hepatitis B: Vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination required
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
    • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved exemption required (not for remote workers)

Competency & Training Requirements

  • Core Competencies (Parts I, II, III): Annual training including universal precautions, cultural diversity, pain management, harassment, fire safety, and TJC National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required annually for medication-dispensing positions.
  • Color Blind Testing: Required for nurses in Emergency Department, Pediatric ER, and MLTs/MLSs.
  • Competency Exam: Annual exam required with detailed score breakdown.
  • Online Orientation Modules: Must be completed within 72 hours of assignment; required for all candidates except pre-book.
  • Pre-Assignment Testing: Must be completed within 72 hours of receiving login; includes medication and EKG tests.
  • EKG Practice Test and Study Guide: Required for most RNs and certain techs.

Additional Requirements

  • Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo with specific background and no obstructions required.
  • Floating Policy: Must be signed by all clinical candidates.
  • Contractor Acknowledgment: Must be signed within 24 hours of contract signing.
  • Performance Evaluation: Required if worked with Aya/Qualivis over 1 year.
