Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - CCU (Travel/Contract)

Location: Abilene, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

Registered Nurses deliver care to patients utilizing the nursing process. Nurses collaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure effective patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes. They interact effectively with patients and visitors while maintaining professional nursing standards. Registered Nurses provide direct and individualized nursing care based on scientific nursing principles. Due to the broad range of medical conditions encountered, nurses must be well-versed in a variety of health conditions.

Additional Notes:

  • Traveler must live 150 miles or more from the facility.
  • May be asked to float to a different floor or another campus.

Required Certifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification

Additional certifications may be required as applicable:

  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
  • CHEMO (Chemotherapy)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)

Required Experience

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse

  • Immunizations and titers required or documentation of immunity for:
    • TB (Negative TB or Chest X-Ray)
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31), with agency religious or medical exemption accepted.
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen with THC required within 10 business days prior to start; facility conducts additional drug screen upon arrival.

Additional Requirements

  • Must complete various facility-specific acknowledgments and forms prior to start (e.g., vaccination info, TB and occupational exposure, patient-centered pledge, confidentiality, corporate compliance).
  • Pass/fail testing required for telemetry nurses (EKG/medication).
  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required as applicable.
  • Color blindness testing required.
  • Skills checklist and references required.
