Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Emergency Department)
Location: Dededo, Guam
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse - Emergency Department (ED)
- Required Experience: Minimum 5 years in specialty
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
- Shift: Primarily one shift (day or night); no shift preference allowed
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, flexibility required
- Holidays: Working holidays required (dates determined by unit needs)
- Return to Office (RTO): Limited; no more than 3 consecutive days off and max 7 days off during the 13-week contract
- Locals: Candidates residing in Guam are not eligible
- Licensure: Must have Compact or Guam RN license in hand at time of application
- Guaranteed Hours: Contracted hours with possible cancellation of up to 3 shifts during assignment
- Overtime: At management discretion, not guaranteed
- Additional Notes:
- Flights are not reimbursed; candidates should budget for round-trip airfare
- Travelers should be prepared to pick up additional shifts as needed due to census fluctuations
- Travelers will be scheduled through the last day of the contract and should not book return flights before contract completion

- Cath Lab/OR/PACU Scrubs: Provided
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA Provider card required (Instructor cards not accepted)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - Preferably AHA or American Red Cross
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA Provider card required (Instructor cards not accepted)
- Conscious Sedation (required for ER, ICU, Cath Lab)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS)
- Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - Advanced NRP required for ER; must be fully completed before start
- Emergency Severity Index (ESI) Training (required for ER)
- Facility-specific modules including:
- Pressure Injury Training
- Alaris IV Pumps
- Pyxis CareFusion
- FEMA modules (completed onsite)
Note: Certifications expiring within 6 months of assignment start must be renewed prior to start; some renewals can be completed onsite.
Required Documents & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Current US Passport (Canadian passports not accepted)
- Background Check: 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start; includes SS Trace, County, Nationwide, Sex Offender, and international searches if applicable
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (annual)
- Physical Exam (within 1 year; not required by facility but required by agency)
- Fit Mask Test (within 1 year; must use approved masks; onsite testing available)
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (within 1 year) and annual TB questionnaire if applicable
- Immunizations and Titers:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Varicella (titer or vaccine)
- Drug Testing: 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant drug screen acceptable)
- Flu Vaccine or Medical Declination (mandatory during flu season Sept 1 - June 30)
- COVID-19 Vaccine strongly preferred; declination requires facility-specific waiver form
- References: 2 professional references for travel/allied/per diem acute care roles (within 3 years)
- Work History Verification: Last 10 years of employment verified; attestations accepted if verification unavailable
- Pass/Fail Testing: Drug calculations and Basic Knowledge Assessment Tool (BKAT) administered onsite during orientation; 80% passing score required; two attempts allowed
Additional Requirements & Notes
- Candidates must plan to arrive in Guam by Thursday before the start date due to long travel times and time zone differences
- Candidates cannot request specific holidays or shift preferences; scheduling is determined by unit needs
- Candidates must complete all required facility-specific training modules by compliance deadlines and upload certificates accordingly
- Candidates with beards must bring their own PAPR or be clean-shaven to pass N95 fit testing onsite; facility does not provide PAPR for bearded candidates
- Onsite testing and training are mandatory and cannot be completed prior to start date
This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with a strong background in Emergency Department care, who are flexible with scheduling and able to meet strict licensure and certification requirements.
