Registered Nurse (ED) - Travel/Contract Position in Dededo, Guam
Contract Details

Experience Requirements

Licensure & Certifications
- Licensure: Must have Compact or Guam RN license in hand at time of application (no pending licenses accepted)
- Required Certifications:
- ACLS (American Heart Association provider card required; instructor cards not accepted)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – Advanced NRP required for ER; must be fully completed before start date
- Conscious Sedation (required for ER, ICU, Cath Lab)
- ESI (Emergency Severity Index) training (required for ER)
- Certification Notes:
- Certifications expiring within 6 months of assignment start must be renewed prior to start (renewals can be done onsite)
- Conscious Sedation and ESI trainings are mandatory and not reimbursed by the facility
- Facility-specific training modules (e.g., Pressure Injury, Alaris IV Pumps, Pyxis CareFusion) must be completed by compliance deadlines
Shift & Scheduling
- Travelers are scheduled primarily for one shift (day or night) but cannot request shift preference
- Schedule finalized after a 4-day window for shift swaps or coverage
- Return to Office (RTO) restrictions: no more than 3 consecutive days off and max 7 days off during the 13-week contract
- Weekend work required every other weekend; flexibility needed to support facility needs
- Holiday work required; specific dates determined by unit needs; no holiday shift preferences allowed
- Overtime is at management discretion and not guaranteed
- Travelers should be prepared to pick up additional shifts based on census needs
Candidate Restrictions
- Local candidates residing in Guam will not be considered
- Passport in hand (current US passport required; Canadian passports not accepted)
- Flights are not reimbursed; candidates should plan accordingly
- Travelers must remain on assignment through the last day before booking return flights
Required Background & Health Checks
- 7-year background check within 1 year of start (including criminal and international searches if applicable)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks must be done annually
- Drug screen: 9-panel instant drug screen within 30 days of start (not required annually unless gap between assignments)
- Physical exam within 1 year (facility does not require but Aya recommends)
- Fit mask test within 1 year prior to start; must use approved masks or complete fit test onsite
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; annual TB questionnaire if past positive
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Immune titer or vaccination proof; boosters required for negative/equivocal titers
- Hepatitis B: Immune titer or full vaccine series; declinations considered only if born before 1957
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; booster required for negative/equivocal titers
- Seasonal Flu vaccine mandatory during flu season (Sept 1 - June 30); medical exemptions considered with facility-specific form
- COVID vaccination strongly preferred; declination requires facility-specific waiver form
Orientation & Testing
- Onsite drug calculations and Basic Knowledge Assessment Tool (BKAT) exams required during orientation
- Pen and paper format, must be completed in person
- 10 questions each, 80% passing score required
- Two attempts allowed with remediation discussion after first attempt
- Facility-specific modules (8-12 hours) must be completed by compliance deadline before start
- Facility-specific competency exams and medication tests required
Additional Notes
- Candidates should plan to arrive in Guam by Thursday before the start date due to long travel times and time zone differences
- Parking is free for travelers (registration and decal required)
- Scrub color: Navy blue preferred; any solid color acceptable; jackets of any color allowed
- Charting system: Allscripts/Sunrise
- Cath Lab/OR/PACU scrubs provided
This position requires a highly experienced ED Registered Nurse with all required certifications current and in hand, flexibility in scheduling including weekends and holidays, and readiness to comply with extensive facility-specific training and testing requirements.
