Travel RN - Float Pool Position
Location: Portland, Maine
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Float pool position requiring flexibility to work across multiple departments including Medical, Surgical, and Cardiology units.
- Night shift hours: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- Weekly guaranteed hours: 36
- Weekend hours required, varying based on unit needs
- No call requirements
Experience & Skills Required
- Minimum 2 years inpatient hospital experience (acute care) required
- Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips independently
- Prior travel experience preferred (at least 1 previous travel assignment recommended for success)
- Flexibility and adaptability essential due to floating between units
Education & Certifications
- Valid RN license for the state of Maine required
- Education modules will be assigned during onboarding
Unit & Patient Information
- Patient ratios typically 1:5 on nights (may stretch to 1:6)
- Units vary in size from 15 to 40+ beds
- Equipment used includes Abbott Plum Pumps
- EMR system: EPIC
Dress Code
- Scrubs of any clean, professional color
- Jeans, t-shirts, open-toed shoes, or shoes with holes (e.g., Crocs) are not allowed
Note: This position is challenging for nurses without prior float pool or travel experience. Having at least one previous travel assignment or float pool experience is strongly recommended for success.
