Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Kingsport, Tennessee
Specialty: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele and MS experience required)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Schedule & Work Details

• 36/36 schedule (36 hours on, 36 hours off)
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call duties
• Required to float between units
• Hospital may cancel or call off one shift biweekly without penalty due to census changes
• Additional overtime shifts may be flexed based on hospital census without penalty

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• MS/Telemetry and Medical-Surgical experience required
• Accepts first-time travelers (prior travel experience NOT required)
• Traveler must live within 100 miles of the facility

Certifications & Licenses

• AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) recommended—verify unit requirements
• Other certifications to verify based on unit: PALS, NRP, TNCC (preferred for ER)
• State nursing license with primary source verification required
• NURSYS verification required

Orientation & Training

• General orientation begins on Sundays (online CBLs)
• 16 hours of non-billable orientation required
• Expected to participate in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical care

Background & Compliance Requirements

• Background check within 30 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Education verification required
• Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check required for TN-licensed/certified candidates
• Photo for badge required within 48 hours of contract signing
• Various facility-specific documents and policies must be reviewed and completed (uniform guidelines, dress code, exposure statements, smoking policy, influenza policy, respirator medical evaluation, etc.)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required annually)
• Respiratory fit mask testing completed onsite
• Immunizations/vaccinations required or documentation of immunity/declination for:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • TB screening (2 PPDs within last 12 months or equivalent)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) titers or vaccination documentation
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella titer or vaccination documentation
• Drug screening: Standard 9-panel drug screen within 14 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season

Additional Requirements

• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Skills checklist required
• References: minimum 2 preferred, ideally 3

This position offers a structured travel nursing opportunity with a focus on cardiovascular and telemetry nursing, suitable for nurses with at least 2 years of experience and MS/Telemetry background. First-time travelers are welcome.
