Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Bridgeport, Connecticut
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 4 ten-hour shifts (typically 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM with a 30-minute lunch)
- Additional: Off-hours night and weekend call requirements, approximately 7-10 days per month
- Facility Type: Short term acute care hospital, Level II Trauma Center
- Charting System: EPIC
Experience & Skills Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse with Electrophysiology (EP) experience
- Minimum Specialty Experience: 1 year EP experience required
- Travel Experience: First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience NOT required)
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- Procedure Skills Required:
- Circulate Procedure experience
- Procedural Sedation Administration/Monitoring
- Electrophysiology Procedures including:
- Arrhythmia Induction
- Cardioversion
- Insertion/Programming of AICDs (Automatic Implantable Cardiac Defibrillators)
- Pacemaker Insertion
- Tilt Table Study
Compliance & Credentialing Requirements
- Background Checks:
- 7-year criminal background check (updated annually)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Education Verification:
- Verification of highest level of education required
- Foreign equivalency evaluation required for internationally educated RNs
- Licensing:
- Primary source verification of state license within 30 days of start
- Competency Exams:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (must score 85%)
- Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates starting 8/2/2024, must score 80%)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (required for telemetry, MS/Tele, ER, all ICU units)
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months of start, updated annually
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation
- Required immunizations or titers: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
- Employment History:
- 7-year work history with no gaps greater than 90 days
- Verification of last 7 years of employment required

- Stroke Education Module and Attestation (except Pediatric specialties and NICU)
- CLABSI Prevention for Adult and Pediatric Training
- Preventing Pressure Injury Training
- Language Services Training
- CAUTI Education Training (except PICU, NICU, Psychiatry/Behavioral Health)
- Patient Transportation with Oxygen Education
- Suicide Risk and Environmental Assessment Training
- Pyxis ES MedStation Modules (except certain hospitals)
- Baxter Pump Interoperability Training
- Patient Bedside Rounding Module (except OR, Behavioral Health, Ambulatory, ER/ED)
- Mobile Heartbeat Alarm Module (except ER/ED, Pediatrics, ICU, NICU)
- Ventricular Assist Device Awareness Module
- AME Blood Administration Module (except Case Managers, Behavioral Health/Psych, Home Health)
- New Employee Orientation Module
- 21st Century Cures Act Module (required for RN except Home Health)
- ED Handbook (for ED/ER RNs only)
- eCart Training Module (except Pediatric, Periop/OR, Outpatient, Case Managers, Home Health)
- Chaperone Policy Training (required if gap of 6+ months between assignments or updated module)
- EPIC Testing (for RNs with EPIC experience)

This is a 13-week travel contract for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of Electrophysiology experience. The position requires ACLS and BLS certifications and specific procedural skills related to electrophysiology. First-time travelers are welcome.
