Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Salina, Kansas
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Requirements

• Specialty: Registered Nurse
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• Prior Travel Experience: Required (no exceptions)
• EMR: MEDITECH experience required (no exceptions)
• License: Kansas or Compact License required at time of submission
• Shift: 7 PM - 7 AM
• Weekends: Every other weekend required
• Floating: May float to other Med-Surg units or ED/ICU as needed
• Unit: 38-bed unit including nephrology, oncology, general medical, and dialysis

Skills & Clinical Competencies

• Telemetry (unit and remote monitoring)
• Gastrointestinal and Genitourinary/Renal care
• IV therapy and phlebotomy (starting IVs)
• Medication administration (Heparin, Insulin, PCA)
• Neurological care (CVA, substance withdrawal)
• Plastics (surgical drains)
• Respiratory care (chest tubes, Emerson/Pleur-evac, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, oral suctioning, tracheostomy management)
• Isolation precautions
• Wound care and wound vac management

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - required for all travelers
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - required for Med Surg, Tele, PCU, Dialysis, ER, ICU, Labor & Delivery, OR, PACU
• NIH Stroke Certification - required annually for all RNs (exceptions apply)
• Other certifications as applicable based on unit assignment (e.g., PALS, NRP, CHEMO, EFM)

Licensing & Verification

• State License verification (primary source) required
• NURSYS verification required for all RNs
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, FACIS Level III
• Education verification (highest degree) required

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 30 days of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, or ARNP
• N95 Fit Test within 12 months (can be completed onsite during orientation)
• Immunizations and titers:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (current within 10 years, required for Birth Center/NICU staff)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2-dose vaccine series)
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer, completed vaccine series, or declination)
  • Varicella (positive titer or 2-dose vaccine series)
• Drug testing: 9 or 10 panel drug screen within required timeframe (SAMHSA certified, MRO reviewed)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination required during flu season (10/1 – 3/31)
• COVID-19 vaccination or declination accepted

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are not accepted
• 100-mile radius rule applies; mileage reviewed case-by-case
• Unit scrub color: Navy Blue
• Prior employees of this facility will not be considered
• References: 2 professional references within 2 years required for travel positions
• Required completion of facility-specific Healthstream modules prior to start (approx. 8 hours)
• Photo for badge required

This position is ideal for experienced travel RNs with MEDITECH EMR proficiency and prior travel contract experience, seeking a night shift role in a multi-specialty medical unit.
