Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity

Location: Huntington, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Description

• 5 North/Step-down unit with 20 private rooms
• Patient mix includes pulmonary (pneumonia, COPD, BiPAP/CPAP), cardiac (a-fib, heart failure), neuro (stroke), GI (bleed), and stable surgery patients at higher risk of instability
• Unit accommodates a combination of adult med-surg, telemetry, and step-down patients based on bed availability
• Nurse-to-patient ratio typically 4:1, may go up to 5:1 depending on staffing
• Critical drips administered include Amiodarone, Esmolol, Insulin, Lasix, Cardizem, and Nitroglycerin

Schedule

• 3 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 1+ year of Registered Nurse experience (specialty experience requirement)
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification required (must be completed onsite within 2 weeks if not current)
• Licensure: Valid RN license with primary source verification required
• Competencies: Medication/Pharmacology competency exam and general competency exams required
• Background Checks:

  • 7-year criminal background check within 1 year, updated annually
  • Background check within 30 days of start
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
• Health Requirements:

  • Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Annual TB questionnaire
  • Required immunizations or titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required (declinations only accepted with approved medical or religious exemption)
  • COVID-19 seasonal vaccine required; initial series preferred; declination form required if opting out
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start
• Other:

  • Government-issued photo ID required during hours of service
  • Facility-specific orientation and education modules must be completed within 1 week of start
  • N95 fit test completed onsite at orientation (male candidates must be clean-shaven)
  • Confidentiality agreement and other facility-specific forms must be completed prior to start
