Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Brownwood, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Work Schedule

  • Preferred start dates: 2/2 or 2/16
  • 36 or 48 hours per week considered
  • Candidates located at least 50 miles from the facility may be considered on a case-by-case basis

Required Experience

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse

  • NIH Stroke Certification – as applicable, with annual updates required

  • State License Verification – required within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS Verification (RN) – required within 30 days of start
  • Tech Cert Verification – required within 30 days of start

Background Checks & Verifications

  • 7-year background check required within 1 year of start; update annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start
  • HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start
  • Education Verification (highest level) or transcript/diploma required
  • State-specific checks for Texas (DADS Employability Status and Employee Misconduct Registry) within 30 days of start

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical Exam within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract)
  • Fit Mask test annually (3M 1860 Regular or 3M 1860S)
  • Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (PPD or Qgold/Tspot) within 1 year of start; annual TB questionnaire required
  • Immunizations or positive titers required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (series, positive titer, or declination)
    • Varicella
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years of start
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or exemption for 2025-26 season
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen with THC within 10 business days prior to start; facility conducts additional drug screen on arrival

Competency Requirements

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
  • Color Blind Testing (online Ishihara test accepted)
  • Competency Exam as applicable

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Completion of various acknowledgment and compliance forms prior to start (e.g., Vaccination Information, TB and Occupational Exposure, Patient Centered Pledge, Contract Employee Receipt, Computer Security Agreement, Corporate Compliance, Confidentiality Statement, Employee Misconduct Registry, Self Identify Form, Relationship to Physician Form, Authorization for Background Check, Traveler Identification Form)
  • Review of Employee Handbook (information only)
  • Completion of orientation modules (~3-4 hours) with parking provided at no cost
