Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)

Location: Springfield, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Cath Lab Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)
  • Shift Options:
    • 3x12 hour days (06:30 - 19:00)
    • 5x8 hour shifts
    • 3x12, 4x12, or 4x10 shifts available
  • Weekend Requirement: 2-3 weekends per contract
  • On-Call: Yes, rotating with staff and agency; frequency flexible based on census
  • Floating: No floating outside scope of practice
  • Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions
  • Pending License: Not accepted; must have active license
  • Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days

Experience & Certifications

  • Required Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year in specialty
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-timers accepted
  • Required Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
    • RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist)

    • Interpretation of Dysrhythmias
    • Left and Right Heart Catheterization
    • Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (PCI)
    • Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty (PTCA)
    • Rotablader Athrectomy
    • Scrub Procedures
  • Procedural Responsibilities:
    • Equipment Setup
    • Recognition of Life-Threatening Arrhythmias
  • Infection Control:
    • Isolation Precautions
    • Sterile Technique
  • Age-Specific Competencies: Middle and Older Adult
  • Electronic Medical Record: Cerner experience required

Additional Requirements

  • Background checks including criminal, sex offender, and state-specific searches
  • Education verification required
  • Physical exam within one year of start
  • Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within one year
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
  • Competency exam required for clinical candidates
  • Professional references (2) required for clinical candidates
  • Badge photo required prior to start
  • Various state-specific registry and fingerprinting requirements for Illinois clinical staff

Scheduling & Work Conditions

  • Flexible scheduling options; block schedules negotiable with manager
  • Call shifts count as called-off shifts if replacing scheduled work
  • Client may cancel up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay obligation

This position is ideal for Cath Lab Techs with at least 1 year of experience who are comfortable working in a high-acuity, acute care, Level I trauma hospital with a Magnet designation. Candidates must hold all required certifications and have Cerner EMR experience. Prior travel experience is not required, making this a good opportunity for first-time travel healthcare workers.
