  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Current certification by AAP, AHA, or Canadian Paediatric Society
  • Chemotherapy Certification (if applicable)
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) Certification (if applicable)
  • IV Certification (for LVN/LPN/Other as applicable)
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) (if applicable)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (every 2 years)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) Certification (if applicable)
  • State License (RN) and NURSYS Verification required

Required Competencies

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
  • Competency Exams as required by specialty
  • Color Blind Testing (if specifically requested)
  • Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring Assessment or valid EFM certification for Labor & Delivery RNs

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Background Check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated monthly
  • Education Verification required for all candidates (nursing degree verification for RNs)
  • State-specific searches as applicable (Oregon and Washington requirements)
  • Drug Testing: 10 Panel Drug Screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty within last 3 years
  • Employment Application: Must include at least last 5 years of employment with explanations for gaps/overlaps

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical Exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
  • Fit Mask Testing (annual, travel only) with acceptable mask types specified
  • Immunizations/Vaccinations:
    • TDAP (within 10 years or declination accepted)
    • Negative TB or Chest X-Ray within 12 months, updated annually
    • MMR (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer or declination
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
    • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer or declination
    • Flu Vaccine during flu season or declination
    • COVID Vaccine or declination
  • Respiratory Safety Clearance (annual for travel)

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Floating Policy Acknowledgement required (may float to other Providence facilities nearby)
  • Badge Photo (passport style with neutral background) required
  • Completion of Providence WorkRamp Modules (Core, Specialty, Regional, and Regulatory) prior to start and annually as required
  • Epic Access Training Modules required for charting system proficiency
  • System TB Questionnaire to be completed prior to start and updated annually

Additional Notes

  • Weekend coverage is required but variable
  • No 48-hour shifts approved
  • Case Manager RN role may cover multiple units including inpatient and ED
  • Business casual attire for Case Manager role
  • No parking fees at facility
