Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Position Details

    • TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement)
    • Impella device procedures
    • Pericardial windows

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • BLS (Basic Life Support): Required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): AHA only, certs of completion accepted for up to 1 month until official card issued
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): AHA only; facility may require quarterly renewal and class transcript
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): AHA or AAP required
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course): Check unit description for requirement
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring): If applicable, check unit description
  • IV Certification: Required for LPNs/LVNs at Missouri facilities
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute): Required if applicable
  • NIH Stroke Certification: Required for all nurses, must be updated annually
  • State License: Primary source verification required; Missouri licenses verifiable on NURSYS
  • NURSYS Verification: Required for RN, LPN/LVN, AP
  • Other: Certification requirements may vary by unit; check unit descriptions for specifics

Background Checks & Compliance

  • Criminal background check within 6 months required (7-year search including statewide and nationwide checks)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required quarterly
  • Education verification of highest related education required before start
  • Fingerprinting required for Illinois long-term care or rehab assignments
  • State-specific searches required and must be renewed quarterly
  • Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include specific panels and be valid throughout assignment
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start required (not annual)
  • Fit mask testing required annually (N95 models specified)
  • Various facility-specific compliance documents required (HIPAA, Latex Allergy, Confidentiality, Regulatory Compliance Education, Hep B Declination, TB Questionnaire, Hand Hygiene, Fingernail, Dress Code policies)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Tdap vaccine or declination required (expires every 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year required; history of positive TB requires additional documentation
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer, vaccination, or MD statement of immunity required; boosters or declination may be accepted with conditions
  • Hepatitis B declination required (not vaccination)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (09/30 - 04/01)

Additional Requirements

  • Two professional references required (supervisors within last year preferred)
  • Unit-specific competency exams required and must be updated annually
  • Employment application required
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start
  • Various state-specific forms and registrations required (e.g., Missouri FCSR)

Work Environment & Expectations

  • Floating within scope is preferred when no CVOR surgeries are scheduled
  • On-call shifts include 1-2 nights per week and every 3rd-4th weekend
  • Weekend work every other weekend required
  • Scrubs provided by facility
