Experience & Certifications

  • Required Specialty Experience: Minimum 2+ years of Level 3 or 4 NICU experience (highest requirement)
  • Required Certifications: BLS, NRP
  • Preferred Certification: STABLE certification
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not specified (assumed not required)

Unit & Patient Information

  • Unit Type: NICU
  • Number of Beds: 25 plus overflow beds on pediatric floor
  • Patient Ratios: Typically 3 feeders, 2 CPAP, 1 nitric, 1 cooling (varies by acuity)
  • Typical Patient Care:
    • Caring for Level 3 NICU infants including:
      • High Frequency vents, conventional vents, CPAP, NIMV, HFNC, Nitric oxide therapy
      • Whole body cooling
      • OG/NG/PO feedings
      • UAC, UVC, PICC, PIV lines
      • Attending high risk deliveries and all cesarean section deliveries
  • Float Requirements: Possible float to mother-baby or pediatrics, but unlikely due to high census

Summary

This travel RN position in the NICU requires a minimum of 2 years of experience caring for Level 3 or 4 NICU infants with advanced ventilator and neonatal care skills. The role is night shift with weekend hours and no call. The unit is busy with a 25-bed NICU plus overflow and uses EPIC for documentation. Prior travel experience is not indicated as a requirement.
