Nursing Contract Opportunity - Maine, Lincoln

Position Details

Licensure & Certifications

• Current RN license in Maine or compact license accepted
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification preferred
• Immunizations required:

  • Varicella (2 doses or titer)
  • Hepatitis B (3 doses or titer or declination accepted)
  • MMR (2 doses or titer)
  • Tdap
  • PPD 2-step or titer within past 12 months
  • Flu shot required during flu season

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience (default to higher if discrepancy found; here only 1 year indicated)
• BSN preferred
• Prior travel experience not explicitly required

Job Functions & Responsibilities

• Perform initial and ongoing age-appropriate nursing assessments
• Complete discharge assessments and plans
• Develop and implement patient care plans based on physician orders
• Administer medications correctly using the five rights and evaluate patient responses
• Communicate patient care activities and updates to healthcare team members
• Document patient care in accordance with hospital policies
• Assist with patient charges and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and bedside rounding
• Maintain patient and staff safety, including proper use and availability of supplies and equipment
• Participate in hospital-wide and department-specific quality improvement initiatives
• Participate in emergency/disaster preparedness planning, drills, and response as needed
• Provide patient and family education and follow-up calls

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Requires standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, stooping, crouching, bending, reaching, balance, lifting, and pushing patients in wheelchairs and stretchers
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs
• Visual and hearing acuity sufficient to assess patients
• Possible exposure to infectious diseases, blood borne pathogens, and toxic chemicals

• Onboarding includes reporting to Human Resources on day 1
• Facility may cancel up to 3 shifts within a 12-week period
