Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: York, Pennsylvania
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position in Pre-Screen Unit; clinical fit determined by clinical review and manager interview.
  • Level I Trauma experience required; must have at least Level II trauma experience (>1 year).
  • Previous travel experience required.
  • Must be proficient and function independently with the DaVinci Xi robot; familiarity with DaVinci DV5 robot is a plus.
  • Proficiency required in robotic specialties: general, gynecology, thoracic, and urology.
  • Must function independently in the following specialties:
    • Robotics
    • Orthopedics
    • General Surgery
    • Gynecology (GYN)
    • Urology
    • Bariatrics
    • ENT
    • Plastics
    • Vascular
    • Thoracic (excluding cardiac and open heart)
    • Trauma
  • Weekend shifts: 3-4 within a 6-week schedule (day, evening, or night).
  • Call requirements: 2-3 calls within a 6-week schedule with 30-minute callback response.
  • Holidays as per department needs (day, evening, or night shifts).
  • Tobacco and fragrance-free facility.
  • May care for COVID-19 patients.

Minimum Experience

  • 3 years total nursing experience.
  • At least 1 year Level II trauma experience (Level I trauma preferred).
  • Prior travel experience required.

Certifications & Competencies Required

  • ACLS (AHA or ARC accepted)
  • BLS (AHA or ARC accepted)
  • PALS (if applicable)
  • NRP (if applicable)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) (if applicable)
  • State RN License verification (primary source)
  • NURSYS verification for RN license
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (as applicable)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (pass/fail exam required for all RNs except OR and Home Health)
  • Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing (required for all RNs except OR and Home Health)

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start.
  • HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start.
  • Pennsylvania FBI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start; can start with results pending but must be finalized within 45 days.
  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse Search (Childline) required within 5 years; can start with results pending but must be finalized within 45 days.
  • Pennsylvania PATCH (PA Access to Criminal History) search required within 1 year prior to start; must be finalized before start (cannot start with results pending).
  • Education verification of highest degree/diploma/transcripts required.
  • 2 professional references within 3 years required.
  • Most recent resume/application required.
  • Annual skills checklist required.

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 90 days of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, or NPT.
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years of start.
  • Negative TB test (QGold or TSpot) within 90 days of start; PPD not accepted. For positive TB, negative chest X-ray within 1 year and annual TB questionnaire required.
  • Measles (Rubeola): 2 vaccine doses or positive titer required; if negative/equivocal, 2 boosters required 28 days apart. Exempt if born before 1957.
  • Mumps: 2 vaccine doses or positive titer required; if negative/equivocal, 2 boosters required 28 days apart. Exempt if born before 1957.
  • Rubella: 2 vaccine doses or positive titer required; if negative/equivocal, 2 boosters required 28 days apart. Exempt if born before 1957.
  • Hepatitis B: Positive titer or full vaccine series (3 doses) required, plus Hep B declination form if applicable.
  • Varicella: 2 vaccine doses or positive titer required; if negative/equivocal, 2 boosters required 28 days apart. Exempt if born before 1957.
  • Seasonal Flu vaccine required during flu season; medical or religious exemptions accepted with documentation.
  • COVID-19 vaccine or medical/religious exemption or declination accepted.
  • Negative 9-panel drug test within 1 year (Aya requirement only; not required by facility).
  • Respiratory safety clearance required within 1 year of start; renew annually.

  • Completion of facility-specific documents including:
    • Medical Statement Non-Employee Ability to Work form
    • Commitment to Health & Wellness
    • Code of Conduct
    • Confidentiality Agreement
    • Non-Employee Affidavit
    • I9 Attestation
    • Documentation Attestation
    • Learning Management System (LMS) modules and New Hire Orientation (must be completed by first day).

Work Environment & Other Notes

  • Floating is not applicable.
  • Must be able to scrub and circulate in the unit.
  • Must be able to work independently without refresher training on required robotic systems.
  • Tobacco and fragrance-free environment.
  • May care for COVID-19 patients.

This position is ideal for experienced travel RNs with strong trauma and robotic surgery skills who are comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, multi-specialty surgical environment.
