Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Med Surg Float RN
- Schedule options: 3x12 or 4x12 shifts (1900-0730)
- Float required to Medical-Surgical (MS), Intermediate Care (IMC), and Emergency Department (ED) Boarder as needed
- Float to ED to care for boarders and/or inpatient units
- Every 3rd weekend required
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience in MS/Tele and Cardiac Tele nursing
- ER holding experience required
- Prior travel experience required (must have completed at least 1 prior travel contract)
Certifications & Competencies
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required (AHA or ARC)
- CPI & NIHSS preferred
- Must pass Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with:
- Minimum overall score of 80%
- 100% score on lethal rhythms section
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required annually with remediation if needed
Floating Units
- Medical-Surgical (MS)
- MS/Telemetry
- Intermediate Care (IMC)
- Emergency Department (ED) Boarder
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Criminal background check within 90 days including all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Education verification for highest degree required by position
- Valid state nursing license required prior to start
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana), updated annually
- Physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tdap (within 10 years preferred)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray (within 1 year, updated annually)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) documentation or titers
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
- Varicella documentation or titer
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept-Mar)
- N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete onsite)
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience in the past 3 years
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps
Additional Notes
- Locals within 60 miles may be accepted at a different rate
- Orientation and facility-specific modules required prior to start
- Annual competency exams and safety manual acknowledgements required
- Photo for badge required (clear, well-lit, solid background, no filters)
This position is ideal for experienced travel nurses with strong Med Surg, Telemetry, and ED holding skills who are comfortable floating across multiple units and meeting rigorous competency and compliance standards.
