Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Specialty: Registered Nurse (Med Surg Float)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Float RN position covering Medical-Surgical (MS), Intermediate Care (IMC), and Emergency Department (ED) Border as needed.
- Float to ED to care for border patients and/or inpatient units.
- Shift options: 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts (1900-0730).
- Required to work every 3rd weekend.
- Float required to MS, MS/Tele, IMC, and ED Border units.
Experience & Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience required in MS/Tele and Cardiac Telemetry.
- ER holding experience required.
- Prior travel experience required (must have completed at least 1 prior travel contract).
- Must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with:
- Minimum overall score of 80%
- 100% score on lethal rhythms section
- Certifications required:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Preferred certifications:
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
Certifications & Competencies
- Current state nursing license required prior to start.
- Relias Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (annual update required).
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (within 3 years, 80%+ score).
- Color Blind Testing (online or in-person).
- Competency Exam (within 3 years, 80%+ score).
- Other certifications as required by unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM) depending on assignment.
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within the last year (or as per history).
- Immunizations/vaccinations required or documented immunity for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years preferred)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or signed declination)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana).
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
- N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start and updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed).
Background & Documentation
- Criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years.
- Education verification for highest degree required by position.
- Employment history verification: minimum 2 years of experience in the past 7 years, including at least 1 travel assignment for travel contracts.
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience in the last 3 years.
- Completion of facility-specific modules and orientation prior to start.
Additional Notes
- Locals within 60 miles may be accepted at a different rate.
- Must be able to drive if driving is an essential function of the job (valid driver's license required).
- Candidate must complete all required attestations and documentation prior to start.
This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with prior travel experience looking to work in a dynamic float role across multiple units including MS, Telemetry, IMC, and ED Border in Baltimore, MD.
