Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Labor & Delivery) - Colorado Springs, CO

Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Labor & Delivery)
  • Location: Colorado Springs, Colorado
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Nights (various days of the week)
  • On-call: 24 hours per 6-week schedule
  • Weekend Requirement: Minimum of 6 weekends per schedule (depends on need)
  • Floating: Required between Memorial North and Memorial Central Birth Centers
  • Patient Ratio: 1:2
  • Average Daily Census: 6-10 deliveries daily
  • Work Environment: High-risk birth center, women's pavilion, OB emergency department with approximately 225 deliveries per month
  • Charting System: Epic

Experience Requirements

  • Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in labor & delivery nursing
  • Specific Experience:
    • Experience with SVE's (Sterile Vaginal Exams)
    • FSE's (Fetal Scalp Electrodes)
    • OR circulator duties
    • Magnesium administration
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not accepted for first-time travelers (i.e., prior travel experience required)

Certifications Required

  • AWHONN Intermediate (Electronic Fetal Monitoring - EFM)
  • FHM (Fetal Heart Monitoring)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)

Special Requirements

  • Scrub color: Navy
  • Must have experience with high-risk OB procedures and emergency situations

Time Off Restrictions

  • Maximum 10 Return to Office (RTO) days approved
  • No RTO allowed during these blackout periods:
    • December 21, 2025 – January 3, 2026
    • March 14 – March 21, 2026
    • May 8 – May 11, 2026
    • May 21 – May 27, 2026
  • Flexibility may be considered for harder-to-fill positions

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • I9 or Attestation
  • Driver’s License/State ID (clear copies front/back)
  • E-Verify or Attestation
  • Proof of Name Change (if applicable)
  • Background Checks including:
    • 7-year background check within 60 days of start
    • SSN Trace, State and Federal checks, Education Verification (accredited nursing school)
  • State License Verification (Colorado RN license required)
  • NURSYS Verification
  • Physical Exam (within 1 year, signed by MD, DO, NP, or PA)
  • Fit Mask Test (annual, specific mask types required)
  • Immunizations and Titers:
    • TDAP (within 10 years or signed declination)
    • Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (annual)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunity or boosters as needed
    • Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination series or declination
    • Varicella immunity or vaccination
    • Flu vaccination or facility-specific exemption (seasonal)
    • COVID vaccination or signed declination
  • Drug Testing (within 30 days of start and annually)
  • Color Blind Exam (Ishihara exam required prior to start)
  • Competency Exams (medication, dysrhythmia/EKG, core parts I-III, OSHA mandatory) updated annually
  • UCHealth CO CAPS Release Authorization (annual)
  • Employment and Work History Verification (last 3 years, gaps explained)
  • References: 2 references from last 2 years, including one from last year, from Charge RN, Manager, or Supervisor

This position is ideal for experienced Labor & Delivery RNs with prior travel contract experience who meet the certification and compliance requirements and are comfortable working night shifts in a high-risk OB setting.
